Cracked a Numex slab and submitted to PCGS

rlawsharlawsha Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭
A few months ago I bought a Morgan dollar on eBay in a Numex slab because it was a good price and I thought it looked good. The Morgan was an 1882-S graded MS65. PCGS slabbed it at MS66 so I went looking for more Numex slabs. They are very hard to find! I had heard that Numex was a foreign offshoot of Accugrade. any truth to that rumor? I may have had a fluke with the upgrade but I am wondering what experience any of you may have had with Numex.

There isn't much information in Conder101's book. On page 213 it states: "Numex 1 A small slab similar to the small ACG slabs. The front label is reminiscent of the PCGS 1 label in layout and with the perforated edges, but with letter quality printing rather than dot matrix. The back label is simple and neat. No hologram, just the company logo superimposed on a group of cocentric circles which are centered just below the E in Numex."
    .
I have never seen one of these slabs, so they must be rather scarce.

  • They were licnsed from ACG so yes their slabs are similiar. I have only seen 2 in the last year and I don't think the company lasted very long.

  • Hey, congratulations on the 65/66 upgrade.

I have never seen a Numex slab before.

(other than in this thread, of course)
