Any hockey guys interested in splitting a mastro lot

Hi,

If I know you and you are interested in splitting a mastro hockey lot, please
email me at himnit@safeplace.net

I've bid on ten lots, total price is over 50K and I'm not the high
bidder on any of them.

There are two lots that I would like to get, but I would need to split them with
someone else. Email me if you are eyeing a lot that you want to split.
If not, I'll go it alone and probably get outbid anyway.
I've only won on Lelands before, never on mastro.

Hey, Marc, I thought about asking the same question a while back about the lot of '70s and '80s OPC wax boxes, but then I saw the lot was at $10,000 or so - and that was like a week ago. Still, if that's one of the lots you're talking about, I might be interested.

    Hi Steve,

I'm not interested in that one. I was contacted by someone who
is interested in the main lot I'm looking at. Hopefully we can
    work something out.

How bout dem Blues. A hat trick for a Blues player. Amazing.

Trivia question. What NHL goalie broke into the league
at the age of 28 and won 6 out of 7 Vezina's in a row ?

    Hint....It wasn't a Red Wings player.

  • I had my eye on that lot of wax too Steve. I am not sure if I can persued the misses to let me bid on it.
  • Answer to trivia : Bill Durnan

Glad the ex-wings ( Drake, Sillinger) could help the blues out last night
  • I know the answer but only because I did a google search....so I won't disclose it!

    Randy,

    Right on. Bill Durnan.
Sold a card to his relative in NJ about
    ten years ago.

What do you think about the Predators ?
Common sense says that the Red Wings win the series.
Do you have any doubts ?

If Sullivan scores on the penalty shot in Game 1, the Wings would've been looking at another first-round exit. Even as it is, I don't think the Wings are out of the woods yet.

On a side note, my grades were posted today. Darren, if you're interested in the '81s, let me know. I'm pretty bummed there was only one 9 in that group. I knew the Liut was an 8 risk, but the others looked real sharp. And, Randy, I'm still undecided about the '72s, but I'm now leaning against starting the set. Not so much because of the grades but because there's just so much other stuff I want - like the (hopefully) forthcoming Beliveau RC and the Morenz RC that's now on eBay.

  • Nice Turn around time on those wow. Email me at styles_darren@hotmail.com with a price for what you want for those 81's.

Are you thinking of buying the 1965 unopened lot? Wow, would love to have that.

Can you imagine the Preds beating the Wings. The games here were the best sporting events I had ever been to, including the Titans "Music City Miracle". They have already exceded our expectations. It is nice having nothing to lose.
  • Jamie,

the Preds will NOT beat my Wings. way too much talk about this recently
  • I think there is a good chance the series goes 7 games. Who would have thought that? And Vokoun has been insane. It is nice the Preds are getting a little press. They have built the team correctly through the draft, then getting a player like Sullivan when most of the kids matured. Our farm team had the best AHL record this year with kids meaning more help on the way.

Like the signs in the arena say
"We built it, you bought it"

Who would have thought a 24 million dollar team could hang with a team paying its players over 3 times that?

How do you add a picture to these posts like Marc's Maple Leaf?

    Jamie,

I'll split the 1965 lot with you if it stays under 30.
You win it, I'll split it.

The Preds are looking great. They remind me a lot
of the Carolina Hurricanes of a few years ago.

Detroit can easily beat them if they get some passion
back in their game. The passion in Montreal and Nashville
    is unreal.

Heck, the world champion Devils still can't sell out their building.
There were as many Flyer fans in the arena. Robert Esche has
been by far the best goalie in the playoffs. If you saw game
four, you'll know why. Vokoun has been second.

It's a long playoff run. In my opinion, the cup goes
through Colorado this year. I don't root for any team,
but Joe Sakics game is truely respected and admired
    by this former hockey coach.

  • Well the Preds sure layed an egg last night. Hopefully can summon up one more effort at home to force a game 7. Hopefully the new CBA will level the playing field salary wise next year to draw the teams even closer.

Marc, if I spent 30,000 on a card auction and my wife found out, I would be single. Although in 10 years you would probably double your investment return. It sure is tempting.

    Yawie-

Nice hit on the '73 Plagar. That whole set is a bear in 9 or better.

There's something about those 72's, and I don't know what it is, that keeps them from getting 9's. I submitted a bunch of real sweeties, straight from vending, about 6 months ago and only got one 9 out of 20. Hard to figure.

Yeah, I can't believe the Plager landed a 9. I thought it had a slim shot at the grade, but the '72s - at least the NHL ones - seemed nicer than it on average. Those are the first cards from either set I've ever submitted, so it was definitely a learning experience. I'm hoping the cards arrive today so I can try to figure out why each card earned what it did.

And congrats to my Blues for being the first team bounced from the NHL playoffs. May all the overpaid underachievers wind up elsewhere once a new CBA is worked out. At least there were zero expectations this year, so there's virtually no disappointment - unlike the previous 20+ years.

Oh yeah, Darren, I e-mailed you the other day. Lemme know if you didn't receive it.

  • Sorry to hijack the post Marc.

Yawie, here's a trade idea for two players that need a new beginning elsewhere:

    Pronger for Bertuzzi

    Dan,

    Hijack anytime you want. image

    Steve,

Mark emailed me a pic of your Beliveau.
Seems like you'll be getting it soon.
    Sorry about the Blues.
Bring back Jorgen Petterson and the gang.

Yeah, Marc, I can't believe that the deal went off without a hitch. Mark says it looks real sharp too. I owe you guys immensely. If I ever have a son, I'll have to name him Marck or something like that.

Pronger absolutely needs to get a new start elsewhere. I think he was expected to be a leader here - especially after MacInnis went down - and I don't think he can play that role. His play just gets too undisciplined come playoff time. He's the kind of player that always leaves you wanting just a bit more. I would've loved getting Bertuzzi for him about two months ago, but there is just such a black cloud hanging over Bert now. And deservedly so, I'd say.

The one guy who I'd most love to see go is Tkachuk. I didn't really like that trade when we made it and dislike it even more now that Nagy's starting to show more of his talents. I mean, Tkachuk was the alleged leader of a Phoenix team that went belly up against the Blues in the playoffs a few years ago, so I'm not really sure how you justify trading for him after that. I don't think it's a coincidence that he's been on two different teams that blew 3-1 series leads.

My work computer stinks - another double post deleted.
    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • yes, and we haven't even mentioned the outrageous salaries these guys get. Tkachuk has always been over-rated imho, and is prone to taking untimely penalties like our Bertuzzi. Apparently, this year while he was playing, Bertuzzi took 20 minors while we were on the PP this year, that just kills us.

And now we are losing to the Flamers...oh well, it could be worse....we could be losing to the Leafs!
