I've been cherry picked!

It is a blow to my pride. I really try to notice everything about the coins that pass through my hands. Photographing the coins helps me do that. Oh, well, this will spur me on to look even harder.

Fairly common within the Merc series because PCGS still does not recognize the DD's except the 42/41's. I presume this is the same with Washington's also.

Carl you should have caught it though........

It was a 1950, but I don't know what type it is.

It doesn't look doubled to me on the reverse (unless it's the eagles talons), the motto does on the obverse though

It looks like the eagle's beak is doubled, nice looking coin.

If you do business your going to get cherry picked. I sold an 1854-O large O quarter in XF for a few hundred bucks once. It's worth $5,000 and up. That's one I know about. Hate to think of all the stuff I've given away in the past 10 years. On the other hand I've had my fair share of good deals and have made a good living so I try not to dwell on it.

Very nice spread on the beak, talons, leaves under the eagle.
Cherrypicker's Third edition lists it at $40 for a MS-65, although that's a 10 year old price. I figure it is probably a $300 coin today. Pretty coin too.

I only have volume 1 of the Cherry Pickers Guide. Time to buy more!

The only other one I find is a '47 with very minor doubling on the 2'nd R in QUARTER and the D in DOLLAR.

It could be, Russ, the beak sure looks doubled in your image. Check the tips of the arrows and the talons for notching to the southeast to be sure.

I was happy with the feedback. If the doubling wasn't mentioned I would never have learned that I missed it. Feedback that helps me learn is valuable.
