      Same here.
    • Could just be the photo, but my gut reaction is that the coin is AT, probably to hide a cleaning.

I agree. I don't like the look of it at all.

Based upon the images and the inherent limitations thereof, it looks like an original toned coin to me, but one which is lacking in eye-appeal.

    • I t looks like it has oxidized and has some powdery residue on it? Almost like it has been wet at one time ? Did it get submerged in water ?

Reverse better than obverse but overall not so hot.

I like the coin for its originality.

Hope the grade was rounded down for lack of luster.

Toning looks origional but dull. It is in the MS60-62 range.

Well...it's in a holder (PCGS?). It depends on what you think it's worth. I've seen them a lot worse. This one's probably AU-55 or so, IMHO.

A very typical look for an original Barber. I've seen MS63's with this same look and they just do not seem to sell no matter how clean they are. Suggest finding a ligher colored one that is more market acceptable.

Looks MS, but I think the surfaces were altered somehow. Its too dull for a MS coin. Looks like amonia was used on the coin. Its hard to tell from the scans.

I kinda wonder what it looks like from other angles?

    • If it hasnt been cleaned, then I love it. All original dark toning -- the best in the world. Shows the coin has character.

On top of everything else, the strike on this coin is horrid.

Thanks for all the input, it looks like we are pretty much in agreement... I think it is original but unattractive.

To me, its eye appeal is "below average."

      Obverse: average to slightly negative.
Reverse: not bad looking; kind of nice, actually.

Not horrible, but it seems a little lifeless. I would expect more from a '63.
