Win a Large Cent by posting about Cammie - WINNER(S) Posted

UncleJoeUncleJoe Posts: 2,531 ✭✭✭
A NICE post. image

I read a lot of heat in posts directed toward Cammie. I thought it would be nice to read some positive posts about Cammie (this thread should vie for the record of most posts).

I will be the sole judge of the winning post (and will take into account any posts suggesting a winner).

To be eligible, post must be made by 5 PM tomorow (4/9) and not too over the top (let's have some truth within the post)

Joe. (No, Cammie did not put me up to this!)

Yes, I know this was not supposed to end until today (4/9) at 5 PM but I think this has gone on long enough. image
(It's good to be the sole judge.)

Damn, Kranky, you really want that Large Cent! image

I couldn't say it any better than Russ did (as well as some other mentions)

kranky is the WINNER !!!

In addition, there was also something about The Liberator's post that makes me declare him a WINNER as well for the before unmentioned creativity prize (also a Large Cent).

Kranky, The Liberator, please PM me your addresses so that I may send you your prizes.

I agree that I don't know why he's the target of so much grief. After all, he was "Nice Guy" for so very long. I think he's an asset here and I generally agree when he calls a thread OT. image

Yeah I agree with DorkKarl. Cameron is the butt of many jokes for his "policing" of the forum, but he does take it very good-naturedly. And you have to give him kudos for his taking the world of sample slab collecting to new heights. From what I've seen, he's pretty knowledgable in general about coins and slabs as well.

When asked to net grade a coin Cammie responded " Bodybag. PCGS No Grade and thats all. No net grade at the top services." So the only nice thing I can say about Cammie is that he probably gets treated the way he deserves to be treated.

I met him at the ANA Summer Seminar a couple years ago when he was named the ANA's YN of the year. That summer he was instrumental in putting together the YN benefit auction which raised over $6,000 to fund YN scholarships to future Summer Seminars. Like many others, he's a member of many coin clubs, but doesn't just hold a membership - he is active as well. He's held officer positions in at least three different clubs. He also has done research for numismatic articles.

It was nice to meet Cameron in person. I got to know him while we spent time in the computer lab at the ANA dorm. It was good we were sitting down in the lab, because had we both been standing to chat I would have injured my neck looking up that far. image He's an enthusiastic, personable and outgoing numismatist and reflects the best of our hobby. He answers coin-related questions on a general-purpose, non-coin site and it's good to know that someone knowledgable and honest is there to represent the hobby to people who have questions but know nothing about coins.

There was a coin show in Denver when the ANA's Gail Baker was asked by a man and his son if Cameron was known to the ANA. They had purchased some coins from Cameron via his website and asked him if he had others. Instead, Cameron sent the boy some 19th and 20th century coins for free. Imagine the impression that must have made on that guy and his son, for them to have made a point to bring it up later at a show.

There are very few people his age who could take the ribbing heaped on him here and not let it get them down, and I give him a lot of credit for taking it all in stride.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • I am sorry Steve27, but we are taught to bodybag the coins and no net grade given.

  • I agree that Cameron deserves kudos for taking things good heartedly. I do think it's great to see a young man who has goals and is doing something with his life other than 'nothing', like a lot of kids his age. Another kudo for this. As far as 'contributing, another kudo for this, as he is quite knowledgeable for his age - at least he has direction while many others do not, even though they are older. I also don't know why he is the butt of so many jokes, but he must be a strong young man to be able to take it in his stride as he does. Good luck with your business and your life. I feel you will go far.

  • I am guilty of giving Cammie alot of dookie....but it is in jest, and he knows it. I've gotten to know him, and done business with him, and I know that alot of his "ignorance" is play, just like most of the sh*t that he gets.

He's a good kid, and my friend.

Ok cammie....mail me the $50 like you said.

Cameron is a wholesome, upstanding regular guy. He's not into booze or drugs or knocking girls up. He is honest and trustworthy, and is very good natured. I would trust him to be a gentleman with my daughter, if I had one.

I do think he is a little uptight about certain things and could stand to loosen his collar a bit. But if there were more young men like Cameron, I believe this country and world would be a better place.

Cameron is very active on this forum and is always willing to spend time helping others who have questions about various coin topics, especially sample slabs.

He receives alot of criticism from folks, and seems to maintain a very positive attitude about coins & life in general. He seems like the kind of guy that you could count on if you were in some kind of trouble and needed a friend or some assistance.

I hope that he enjoys reading this thread, and sees how many folks really do admire him as an all around good guy as he states in his author icon. image

I have not had a lot of conversation with Cammy but I do know that he knows what he is talking about. As with a lot of the people that post things on these boards. I think many people forget that this hobby is for FUN and he has helped keep it that way!

Cammie persuaded me to go for an ANA scholarship and to get involved in the ANA... I'm now going to the seminar free for the second year. While there last year, he taught me a ton and checked what I was buying to make sure it was all good--he's a good guy image

Win a Large Cent by posting about Cammie. A NICE post.

Beneath Cammie's wholesome, naive, "couldn't hurt a fly" demeanor there lies a shrewd "all's fair in sample slabs and war" businessman and future ANA president.

  • I agree with Mr. Eureka,

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Cameron will be a giant in this industry one day. He is one of the most ethical people that I've ever met in the business (and I go back to the mid-60's with that statement). His eye when it comes to honest and accurate grading in my personal experience with him has been exceptional. He is not just a matter of flipping a deal and making a couple of bucks. Cameron is a true numismatist that happens to be a dealer as well, dare I say in the DQB category? He is willing to help everybody including junior collectors that most would just blow off as a pain.

Bottom line, the "Kid" has my respect.

PS. He's also promised me a job when he gets to be a biggie dealerimage

    A poem: image

Cammie dear Cammie, I know you not.
But a nice looking large cent,
    Is a coin I "don't got."

I'd love such a nice coin
    so large and so swell.
It would fit in my collection
    so very @#$% well!!

So Cammie dear Cammie, here is some praise!
Take it and be happy, for the rest of your days!

    Perhaps my brown-nosing,
    will land me a cent.
    Perhaps I can use it,
    to help pay my rent!

    heheheheheheheheheh imageimageimage

  • No poems, no jokes, no brown nosing (though they are some damned good ways to pry this large cent from Unc Joes hands)...I have seen Cameron get slammed here (why is anyones guess...he shoots straight from the hip, and we should embrace a person's comments that shoots from the hip). Agree with him or disagree with him, if you have something to say either way, he got your attention, didnt he??? I have dealt with him on the bay of E and have known him to be a forthright, solid seller...and isnt that all we really want? Someone that doesnt BS, but calls a spade a spade, and takes care of his buyers (a good seller must know the value of a dollar and realizes his customers dollars dont grow on trees). Thats pretty much it....a decent member of the numismatic community.

Cammie is a great kid and he always ask me to e-mail him only the very best porno pics I have..... He never settles for second rate pics like MadMarty sends, are HamiltonJ.image

Also he has a great perspective on blondes, and never dates those girls that have not finished 3rd grade, unless of course they are mentally retarded and that will never get past the 1st grade.image

I just really can't find anything to fault Cammie for..... He takes everything in stride, and never seems to get bent out of shape when other forum members hassle him, and poke fun at him.image

And I'm pretty surprised he flamed cammy like that. Not that I know cammy, just read one of his threads about him suckering some person into buying a sample plastic slab.

I've gotten alot of insults too cammy. When I first began posting (4 weeks ago?) I bossed one person around too because they said the F word totally flaming this scammer, who in fact, did deserve it. But that person abused the F word so he could say it, where there are young people on these forums (including me) which is not a good enviorment for them. I told him nicely to go to another forum if he was going to talk that language. He got quite mad at me and snapped back. I PM'd him with an apolgy and haven't heard from him since.

    Good luck to you Cammy.

Cameron has never done anything illegal or immoral (unless you count the preschoolers prostitute ring).
He's an overflowing cup filled with all the goodness of humanity (unless you count all the times he sold dope disguised as a nun).

No, seriously, in all the times I've seen him post he seems to be a knowledgeable and conscientious person. I'm amazed at his level headedness, especially considering the jibes we throw at him. I know that I could not remain cool and calm in that respect, which probably makes him a better man than me.

And, Cam, I'll see if my wife will put the "single sheep" thread back up on our local forum for you.image
