Any "$5 Special" invoices outstanding?

I was wondering if anyone still has their invoices for the $5 special still outstanding? I have 2 still out there and a "Mechanical error" still outstanding. The "Mechanical Error" (PSA's error) out for over 6 weeks. Anyone know how long it takes them to do that?

Strange part is, the box contained 2 other invoices which have already been graded, returned, and received by me. All 3 invoices were 160 cards... I'm confused how they decide which order to process next.
Too bad they can't give better updates about where a particular invoice stands in the process. My attempts to find out were answered with basically It's not late, don't worry about it.
Both were received on 3/4 and logged in on 3/25. One is a 2 card "mechanical error" submission and I was notified that it shipped today. The other is a 145 card submission that is still in the process of being graded.

<< <i>What exactly is a "mechanical error" at PSA? >>
A "mechanical error" refers to a card that is incorrectly labeled by PSA on the flip. It could be anything from a misspelling of a name to the wrong year listed. PSA reholders these cards at no cost with the corrected information printed on the new flip. The cert # remains the same, in case you wondered.

I just sent in a mechanical error and had it back within 10 days of when I sent it. Just a single card with a misprinted flip.

I rec'd an email today stating that the clock starts when they input the cards into the system. That has to help meeting deadlines. Here's the response:
"Unfortunately we start the day count when we receive your order into our grading system, so you are on the 28th business day. This is per PSA President . I wish I could help you out."
I sent an email in to check on my mechanical error that's been there for 6 weeks on Monday. Rec'd a reply back same day stating she (Cassi) would look into it. 4 days....no response. I'm glad I don't treat my clients that way or I would be out of business.

By the way. You may want to check out the fine print. It also states that "Special Submissions" are not included in the 35 Day guarantee(Which means that we can't get free submissions because they were late). So they can take as long as they want to grade our cards and there isn't anything we can do about that.
I also believe the guarantee starts to run when the cards are received, not when logged in. If it were the latter, that too would be deceiving (it certainly did not say this when the special was advertised). Think of what could happen here: PSA could conceivably hold your cards 10 days, 20 days, four months, a year (you get the point) and then log them into the system at that later point in time. What would you think then?
Now, I know many people may say "PSA can do what it wants regardless of what we think." That is true to a degree. However, when PSA makes a promise of a guaranteed turnaround time and us as submitters rely on that promise, it cannot later try to modify, disregard or change that promise. In my situation, if my grades are not posted tomorrow, PSA will hear about it.
PSA is of course free to change the rules on future submissions. If it does not want to guarantee turnaround times, it can do that. However, if guarantees are posted, they must be honored.
With the above said, let me state I am an avid PSA supporter. I believe PSA accurately grades and I rather like the 10 point grading scale (I might be in the minority when I state that I do not care for half grades; this is not rocket science). I also actively participate in the set registry. Regardless, if I am made a promise (i.e., 35 day turnaround guarantee) and I rely on that promise, you can "guarantee" I will put up a fuss if it is not met.

The only difference is a handful of unusual cards on this invoice. Anyone else that is still waiting have oddball cards on their outstanding invoices?
Cards were received 29 business days ago and logged in 16 business days ago. Less than halfway to the "guarantee" time, but painful because 2/3 have already been graded...

It didn't get posted into the system until 3/27/04.
Doesn't seem quite right that PSA can wait until whenever to post it into the system.
Anyways, I'm just excited to get back my submission. I'm sure it'll arrive sooner or later and I know the 30-day submissions are just guidelines and not guarantees.
PS. And asking customer service about the status of my shipment didn't really work. I got the runaround 3 different times and finally just gave up. Thankfully they got received - albeit 2 weeks later on the 27th.
received at PSA: 3/30
logged in: 4/8
grades posted 4/19

as bad as it sounds , we will continue to submit to psa as long as the cards recognize a premium over other companies. if you don't you will lose on both ends, your initial turnaround time and from submitting to another company . heck it was a $5 special, sucks if they miss some turnaround times but for $5 you can't beat it anywhere

Oh well, still time for those 10s to be finalized.
Hello,
This is still going through the grading process. We are currently on
the 26th business day. It shouldn't be too much longer before it is
complete.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Thank you

Subject: RE: PSA Customer Order Status Check
Hi,
Any chance you could give me an update about the status of this invoice
(#553567)? Any information at all would be appreciated!
Order 4151115, Zip 77840.
Proof that it can be done.
Today is day 35 for my submission mailed on 2/27/04 and logged in on 3/22/04. Anyone have a submission go over the 35 days.
Jeff
PSA's turnaround guarantee assures you that PSA will have grades available in the number of business days specified.
Guarantees are invalid during weeks of major card shows PSA attends. To see a listing of these shows go to www.psacard.com
Knock out a few of the last weeks in their entirety because PSA went to shows.
what next ?
