We are fortunate to have many very talented numismatists who devote some of their time to sharing their knowledge and experience with fellow forum members!
This thread is a good way to recognize who they are and to show them our appreciation!

I went with Julian; although Feldolini ranks up there somewhere.
Ms. Sperber gets an honorable mention for her markplace savvy; I don't know about more obscure numismatic knowledge but am sure she's not a pushover there either.
Unmentioned and mentioned board members oreville, roadrunner, TDN, EVP, and Mr. Eureka are all very astute from what I've seen.
Specialists: Stewart and Chuck are powerful and complementary forces in the realm of copper. onlyroosies has one heck of an eye and a knack for finding material, both of which make me positively sick with envy. melikecoins...don't know him that well but he certainly can find the ultimate moderns. Cladking is wicked sharp and has a grasp on the finer details of modern issues that is probably underappreciated even by those who agree with him.
Having said all that, none of the above make my top two:
wondercoin. Not just moderns here. His knowledge of classic series is rock solid and at times astonishing, and his grasp of the overall market is virtually unimpeachable. Plus he's only getting started.
MS68. Numismatic knowledge. Business sense. Grading skill. All three in massive quantity, this guy is the real deal.
RELLA
Do not fall into the error of the artisan who boasts of twenty years experience in his craft while in fact he has had only one year of experience... twenty times.
<< <i>MrEureka, Bill Jones, and Coinguy1 all all very high on the list. Conder's right in there too. >>
I highly agree.... I love when Mark pops in with his little lesson... and Bill every once in a while brings up a really cool little fact/tidbit about coins, that's just like... Cool... Andy's awesome too, and Conder too...
Now, if it was more specific for different fields/series... that's different...
Honorable mention to JadeRareCoin on the pre-Seated Lib coinage... Dennis is helping me to learn a lot!
What?? "General numismatics" and no Darkside candidates -- coins, currency, or exonumia -- or experts like Conder101 who doesn't post all that frequently but is a walking reference library perhaps on the order of Breen???? I'm shocked, I tell ya -- shocked!!
Well, hardly. Y'all need to get out of the blazing Liteside more often.
ER: Perhaps you may wish to pick the top 5 or so finalists from your poll and start a new poll amongst them??
It seems that CoinGuy1, MrEureka, Bill Jones & Julian plus perhaps some others would make the short list based upon voting and comments in this thread...

Geez, I can't believe my name is in the poll. It's flattering, but the fact is I don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath with the others on that list.
I would rather not choose just one, so I won't... Mr.Eureka, Coinguy 1, and perhaps Lloyd from the darkside deserves an honorable mention. Afterall, English coins span far more centuries and many more series that are really quite interesting.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
The winner, obviously, has to be a full-time pro with a good eye and a quest for knowledge ... that discounts 99 percent of the folks around here. That is not to say, however, that there are not Forum members who within their areas of expertise could likely kick most professional numismatist butt. There's a lot of good names on that list and I value all of their comments.

I agree wholeheartedly!

I can only go by what I've read on here. And also who I've met in person. I'm gonna name a few. But folks need to know there are a lot of people out there that don't post on this board that have been in the business for 40 years that could blow away many on this board for their knowledge in Numismatics.
Here are a few, Mark Feld, Mike DeFalko, Bill Jones, Dog 97 (Morgans) K6AZ (Morgans) Mike Printz, Gsaguy (Morgans) many more in certain series. Oh yeah, Mike Billy MBcoin ( he not only just sells but knows his coins very well.)
Also.... to be honest there are many sellers on here that folks feel they are the most knowledgeable that really aren't IMO.
Edit to add.... Mr. Eureka and TDN.
Please... Save The Stories, Just Answer My Questions, And Tell Me How Much!!!!!
Almost all on this forum, even the newbies, help us to learn with comments, questions and pictures. My vote would have to be for MadMarty. He keeps it fun.
I think that we also have to take into consideration how much these very knowledgeable numismatists actively share their wealth of experience with others on this forum.
Those who actively participate by sharing their knowledge are those who come to mind first. We perceive them to have the most knowledge because we interact with them more, and thus learn more form them than others.
For instance, I agree that Cardinal has been extremely generous with his time sharing his knowledge of Early Bust Coins with me. He is truly a world class expert in early coinage, and he's also a great guy and truly a gentleman...

Thank you RELLA and MANOFCOINS for the honorable mention. When you spend 12-16 hours day, day in and day out, year in and year out studying numismatics, even by osmosis a great deal will sink in

Hey Coincrank! Thanks for the mention -- much appreciated to be sure.
For my money, I've learned an awful lot from MrEureka, Rittenhouse, and Julian over the years. None of those three guys were too proud to have a long coin conversation with a 14 year old who asked too many questions ...

The key phrase here is "general numismatics".
My vote goes to pistereen. He runs laps around the holier than thou, ethics police, and grading gurus when it comes to "general numismatics".
