My Mother's IHC Circulation Find - Real or Fake

My mother (74) collects Statehood Qtrs from circulation so she looks at all of her change. At first she thought this was foreign but after a closer look she saw it was a US cent. She sent it to me to see if it was real. I don't know a thing about copper. Is it real or fake? Either way, a cool circulation find.

Probably just a collector throwing out seeds. Every once in a while I'll drop IHC or buffalo when I go to the grocery store.

About 6 months ago, I put about $10 of wheats and low grade IHCs into rolls while rolling pennies to take to the bank.
