Anyone know anything about Editorials for CoinWorld?

I sent one in about a week ago--any idea how long I should wait before I should:
A- Email them about it
B- Give up

(note: B is not an option... this is a GOOD one image)

  • I do not have any idea how long you should wait before you try to contact them. You could always just post it here for all of us to read.image
  • It can take months. I work in magazines and they may hold for a while. You'll know if you receive "a waiver" from CW with permission to print. Check with them ever 3 or 4 weeks.

Then there could be copyright issues--I'd rather it just stay quiet right now... when I can, I'll show it off image

I wrote an editorial for CoinWorld in the early nineties. I'm kind of foggy about how long it took them to print it. To my recollection, I sent it, and I called about two weeks later and they said they were going to use it, and then it came out.

Funny. It was a commentary about the way coin collectors talk to one another. I was appalled at some of the letters to the editor they got and thought people should show a little more respect when they communicated with one another. I remember it started out "Let's talk about the way we talk to one another." Another naive plea for peace on the Coin planet. image

Almost makes me laugh now. Especially in light of communications I have witnessed in this electronic internet medium. Makes the CoinWorld stuff look almost quaint.

I had an editorial published a few years ago. I wrote a response to some idiot's comment (No, I have not read Clankeye's editorial... image But I am sure his editorial sucked ... image!) on the Federal Reserve. I simply wrote it as a letter to the editor and Coin World called me to ask if they could use it as an editorial. From the time I submitted the letter to the time it was published was about 3 or 4 weeks. But then again my piece was a specific response to a letter, so Coin World probably didn't want to sit on it so that it lost its timeliness.
