Very pretty, but it won't look that nice in hand. This seller is very good at imaging copper, if you get my drift.

<< <i>This coins eye appeal is out of sight!!!! The colors are gorgeous. There is luster present, however the coin was dipped causing these colors. There is no wear and the coin is sharply struck. The reverse is gorgeous and choice!! >>
In the description he say it has been dipped so I assume it's over dipped. Maybe worth $120-$140. mike
    • Might have been poorly recolored. It's not worth anywhere near what he's asking.

That coin has an odd look about it that is distinctly artificial.

Look at the seller's other items for sale. Would you pay the asking prices for those other items? If not, then chances are that the one you're looking at is also a big mistake. If everything is overgraded across the board, don't bid on the one that looks properly graded. It is just a nice photo of a deceptive cleaned coin. On the other hand, if the other items look reasonable, then there's a chance the one you want is also priced reasonably. 99.8% positive feedback means nothing in terms of grading- it just says that the person is polite and ships quickly. I'd ship your coins quickly too for that kind of money.

    • I have dealt with this seller. On this coin he has represented it appropriately, stating that it has been dipped. From the scans, it clearly has an uneven toning but appears to be an unc coin. When I have purchased a coin from him and been dissatified, he has refunded without problem. Obviously you need to pick and choose what you buy.

    • It has awesome details. Too bad it's been messed with. I wonder what the AT is hiding ?
    • That coin has been cleaned, darkened with Deller's Darkener and then coated with Coin Care or Blue Ribbon. Lot's of doctored copper like this floating around, and it's always advertised as "MS-60" or "Unc.". GRRRRRRR! image

If I sent this in for grading there would a 99.9% chance that it would come back to me in a body bag as AT. Then again I've submitted early copper coins that were entirely original that came back in BBs as AT.

This one though is not what Dr. Sheldon had in mind when he wrote about "autumn leaves." It’s what a coin doctor had in mind when he saw a sharp, cleaned "red" early copper.

Look at the lack of detail re the hair under LIBERTY. This coin is a slider. This color on copper means AT. That type of purple, coupled with what appears to me to be grainy surfaces means that some 'doctor' has ruined what otherwise would be a nice AU coin.
