Started the week with the ANA grading seminar Tuesday thru Thursday. MDWoods and his buddy John were here with Rick Kay and Clackamas. I've spent most of my time chasing copper so learned a TON about silver and gold. While walking the bourse Thursday and Friday, it was like blinders had been taken off my eyes. There were problem coins EVERYWHERE!!! Had never really noticed before..... David Lange was the key teacher along with Alex (forget his last name....a NGC grader), Ken Bresset, etc. They were all VERY helpful. I made an offer on a couple of the grading set coins but they were refused....
The class broke up Thursday and we headed for the coliseum. The class included an earlybird pass to the show. The auction lot viewing area was busy. I previewed the IHC and FE cents mainly along with the patterns. The first session of the auction Thursday night didn't have anything for me in it but there were some nice coins.
After the auction, went to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse with Rick Kay, Coinliutenant and Boiler78.
Friday walked the bourse looking for coins. Stopped in the budget section and looked at coins. Found a nice variety, the 1890 with off-set clashed reverse, PCGS 63Br for $60! Spent a bit of time talking with Rick Snow and Andy (at Angel Dees) about IHC's and the market. Both had a real nice selection of inventory with spots opening up from sales throughout the day. Ran into Brian Wagner who's back in the business. Managed to buy a couple IHC's, one a 1890 from Snow and a 1898 from JJ Teaparty. Had a nice conversation with Julian Liedman who is ALWAYS a pleasure to see.
Ran into an old IHC friend who I had been negotiating with since the 2003 FUN show over a FE cent (yes, 2003!). He bought the 1858 LL PCGS MS67 cent from the Gorrell sale and had his MS 66's for sale. Well, after 15 months of haggling, I finally own one The final purchase was from the BigE. He and the misses were there and were a delight to get to know. He had a nice 1864-L PCGS AU58. It's been a desire of mine to complete a nice AU IHC set after finishing the red set and this was the first purchase.
Finally, there was to be a gathering of PCGS forum folks at Kays table at 1PM. The turnout was sparse but fun. JRStevens, Rick Kay, Boiler78, BigE, dbldie55, coinliutenant, Sticks (spelling??) and I milled about for a bit. There was no lunch or event per-se but it was good to meet a few new faces.
Overall a very enjoyable week. Thanks again to Boiler78 for putting up with me as a bunk-mate. Embarassing photos to follow in another post!

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.

Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
New Barber Purchases
There wasn't much in the way of foreign to choose from at the show and I was a little disappointed that I didn't find the coins that I was really interested in, but I managed to find a few nice coins, had some good conversation, and stayed busy from opening to closing. Overall, it was a great day!
