Umm.. what do you mean they sent it back raw or said it was fake or something?
  • Elaborate a bit.
Authenticate by who's standards? What coin? Who graded it, or returned it ungraded? What was their reasons?

  • I have a Sacagawea missing the reverse maganese layer. ANACS sent it back and it only says on the holder.....2000-P Sacagawea MS 64.
I did weigh it.....and it does weigh considerably less than a sac.....I don't remember the correct weight now though.
Is it possible they are wrong?

I would call them and ask them why they didn't mark it on the label.
I don't submit much to anacs and am not sure if you need to pay more or mark on the form a coin is a error or if they do it automatically.
  • ANACS is great with error coins. I think the coin really isn't and error even though you hope it is.

Thread with pics on the open forum so everyone can see the coin

I see a pcgs coin only in that thread. Would a coin that the mag layer was worn away and not a mint error on one side grade 64?

Personally I would rather send my coin to Honeywah than anacs.
  • I have to agree with Cameron. If it's a planchet flaw, it's not a mint error.
Although, it sounds somewhat unique. I've not seen one of these, but would like to. image

    Got pics?

Oh, it's very possible that they are wrong. All of the first tier grading services make a tremendous number of mistakes.

It's tough getting them to admit a mistake, though, even if it's transparently obvious.
