As I have stated before, my grandfather (7 generations back) came to the US from Dungannon, Ireland
between 1680 and 1710.
Attached (don't know how to get it in the text) are pictures of a 1990 Irish Gold Proof 50 Ecu (only Irish gold coin minted in hundreds of years). Hope you like it.
BTW, does anyone know what the value of this coin is?

<< <i>Scotland is pretty close to the Green Isle,,, I suppose I may be a bit Irish myself,even in Florida
>>
Hey theboz11 When my parents came over from Donegal in the late 50's we moved to Florida. I was raised in the St.Petersburg area. Yes, Scotland is pretty close ( My Mum was Scotch-Irish) and in Donegal the Gael spoken has a Scotish swing to it.
I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan's Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death
The great Irish poet--W.B. Yeats
<< <i> have fond memories of St Paddy's Day as it was on St Paddy's 19 years ago that I quit smoking cold turkey. >>
I quit smoking about four year ago. Today I have three different gigs to play (I'm a musician) in Irish bars for a total of nine hours. I will be immersed in cigarette smoke, and I tell you it makes the job much less fun.

tbird56, thanks for the price quote.
MSD61, I see from the lightside post that you are from Donegal. I think Dungannon is about half way between there and Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland.
