Last hole filled. Pics of my complete circ. Morgan date set

I had one more coin to go to fill my Morgan date set. Well I filled the hole this week with a 1895-S. This isn't the most difficult set in the world to put together, but it sure was a fun challenge.

Here it is:

    Well what's next?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Thanks for the nice comments.

Next is my 19th & 20th century type set and a few Top 100 VAM's along the way. I'm having as much fun with the type set as I did with this one. You can see pics of my type set so far on my website.

Doesn't it feel good to fill that last hole?

I know exactly what you mean.

    We ARE watching you.

  • It's a great feeling...but kind of bitter sweet. The journey was so fun that it feels kind of strange to have it complete. But there's definitely some upgrade candidates. The first upgrade will probably be the 1893-CC.

Very nice. I just loved nicely matched circulated sets. You can still pull them out of the dansco page, put the coin between the fingers and look them over up and down. If one falls out of your hand and onto the hard concrete floor you simply pick it up, look for newly formed rim dings...when none are apparent, you simply put the coin back into the holder again. LOL uhhhh...that has only happened to me twice! image

Once I was so anxious to see my new coin I opened it right by the mailbox. I barely got the coin in my grubby fingers (a key date Barber half) and the damn thing popped out right on to the unforgiving asphalt road. Bounced high and hard two or three times, after I peppered the air with profanities for a few minutes and put some permanent wrinkles in my forehead wincing and grimacing in horror, I picked the coin up and it was mostly good. Yeah it had a few new rim ticks, but it was still a nice coin!

Thanks. I love the look of a circulated Morgan with nice even wear and toning. And best of all they're very affordable.

  • Bill,
Nice set----Now where's the MS65+ set???----I'm working on a complete MS set, I don't think I can afford it until Donald Trump appoints me "the apprentice". OR this bull market takes a dive----Me don't want that to happen---good luck to you.

Its a foul ball by a fair margin.
  • John,

Good luck on your MS set. That's way out of my league!

Nice work! It's a very attractive set. You should be very proud of it.

Now try to imagine putting together a similar set of SBAs or Sacs - impossible! They don't circulate enough to accumulate wear!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

So true. When I cracked out the '95 I almost nicked it with my screw driver. I barely missed, but afterward I thought, not really a big deal if I had hit the coin since the coin already has plenty of nicks to begin with. Makes this hobby much less stressful image

I picked up a nice AU 21-D for my set the other day...problem is...it's too nice...oddly enough I'll have to downgradeimage

  • I like the type set on your web site too...I'm stuck on the Seated dollars and finding a nice 20c piece...

Yep, me too. The type set is a whole different ball game compared to my Morgan set. I thought I found a nice 20c piece at San Diego Coin & Bullion, but they told me to be patient and get something better. That's why I love those guys at SDC&B...best local coin shop in the universe, IMO.
