OT: My daughter is going to be on Jeopardy!

My younger daughter (age 12) went to the try outs for the Kids' Jeopardy tournament last year and was just notified that she was selected as a contestant! The show is tentatively scheduled for early May. She will be following in her older sister's footsteps, as she was on Jeopardy Kids' Week 2 years ago. More details to follow, as they become available.

    I have an idea, give her one of your coins and she could show it on TV when they go around asking about each person. She could say "this is my good luck charm my dad gave me" and then you could sell it on Ebay saying "The first coin to be on Jeopardy". image

    I was on Wheel of Fortune in 1985. Cool experience, but when people say its a lot harder when you are in the studio than when you are at home in large sweat pants sprawled out on your couch like a porpoise, they're right.

    Thanks all. The way it's done is they tape 5 shows (a week's worth) in one day. They don't decide the order the kids go on until they are all there and waiting in the wings. Once the taping is done, I'll post an update with the exact date it's to be aired.

    But did you depend on the schools to educate them or did you also do a lot of teaching at home? (I don't mean in a formal school type setting.)

    We went for the taping last weekend. The Kids' Week of shows is scheduled for May 3-7. They told us our show would air Friday May 7, but there's a small chance the order may change. If you watch all the way through the credits at the end, you'll get to see me, too.

    Update on the show:

    My daughter, Robin, will appear on Jeopardy this Thursday, May 6. If you watch through the credits at the end, you'll get to see me also (we are in the front row of the 3 sets of family).

    She's come to a few local coin shows with me and would do well with the basics, but not much more than that. Her older sister knows a little more, as she came with me to the ANA show in Phila a few years ago and had fun with the YN program.

    BTW, if anyone's interested, the Jeopardy folks have a web page with info on the kids playing this week.

    Barry...though you know the outcome, I hope she did extremely well and I know she did Dad proud, or you wouldnt be boasting about it here (not a knock, if she even GOT to the TV tapings, she did very well and you SHOULD boast about it). Good luck to her! I will be watching!
