One of the toughest in the IHC series. In 65R, comparable to the 1872, both rarer than the 1877.

One day I'll try to start collecting some nice ones.

(Speaking of 72's,I have a 72 in AG3-WhooHoo)
Knowing Lakesammman he will then spring the surprise on us and tell us that this is a shallow N reverse!!!! looking at it more closer, my fantasy was not about to be realized!
is it
Why ? What marks am I not seeing that kept this coin out of a 66 holder ?
If your 100 % positve the coin would not "4" I think it's time to play the crack out game !!!
I only collect I.H.C.'s by type except for my 1859.
one thing besides no spots that I look for, well actually I look for on all copper cents is full luster in the middle of the word "one cent". I won't buy a 64 or higher without that.
As EVP recently lectured me and others about in a recent thread, you can't really tell without seeing the coin in hand, but from here, that looks like a 65.9 [to say the least].

I'm scared to death of Red IHC's... they tone so easily... with my luck it'd be a RB within a year and a BN in five years

Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !

What am I missing, Why only a 65?
Captain Ron, if you want my trade in 1871 65R, PM me....it's also very nice.
Oreville, it's a bold N. My shallow N 1871 looks just as nice but, for some reason, the services think it's AT The reverse is nicer than the coin pictured above, the obverse slightly subdued.
How about a nice LARGE picture for us to enjoy?
Tom
Here's the shallow N reverse. I think it's as nice as any 65R I've ever seen.
Let me know how to post a larger picture and I'd be happy to do it. The cut off for PCGS seems to be 65K or so.
