My very first sell on e-bay, looking for advice

Item #3902971126, an easy item to sell for sure. Looking for a few of the many e-bay sellers on these boards to critique my ad. Any advice or criticism would be appreciated.

I would say add a picture if you can. The first picture is free.

Looks like a nice, no-nonsense, professional listing; but, if you have a camera, pictures make a lot of difference on EBAY Coin listings.image

First, if you plan to sell much, you really need to get a camera or scanner. Bidders are much more inclined to look at and bid on auctions that include images.

Second, since you have no image, you may want to add to your description and describe how the set looks. I have seen these sets in nice condition go for over $250, so it is really important that if this is a nice, pristine set, describe what the coins look like. Also describe the condition of the box, some proof set buyers are very picky about that. Also mention whether or not the COA is included.

One more very important piece of advice - when you ship this set, do not ship it in a bubble mailer. These sets get damaged easily in bubble mailers. Use a box.
  • One other thing I noticed is that the Paypal CC logos are inserted. This happens if you select Paypal as an option in the Sell Your Item form. Even though you state no CC's in your TOS, you may encounter bidders that insist on paying via CC since the logo's are there. There are several discussions in the Ebay forums regarding this whole issue, but the bottom line is that nobody can seem to get a straight answer as to whether or not it's acceptable.

I have stock 1999 silver proof set photos if you need to use them. They'll help a little.

K6AZ----------I do have a flatbed scanner, tried a slab on it but the coin looked washed out and the luster was gone. guess I'am going to have to buy a digital camera.

Actually, you can get pretty good images from a scanner on proof sets. When you go to scan the coins, after running through the preview, manually adjust the contrast and brightness before doing the final scan. It will take some tinkering, but you should be able to get a decent image.
