In my other thread, it seems several other people are also fans of booming, halogen headlight, blow-your-mind-luster. Let's see some pics of coins that will melt you monitor...
Purchased this week - 1883 NC 5c PCGS MS65PQ (Luster of a 66)
Another big luster favorite - my 1907 Saint in 63...
Edited to post a bigger pic of my Saint

Very nice
Frosty surfaces that spin cartwheels when tilted against the light. Really great coins will just drip it. I saw a coin in a Bowers auction once that would hav graded MS64+, but the luster was so incredible that NGC graded it MS67! Wish I had kept a pic.

Those 38-D's have some awesome luster. I've got a few of those myself. Nice "peach fuzz" on that 09-VDB.

Um, doesn't this seem wrong to you? If the coin is a technical 64 should it get a 3 point bump for luster? Seems like this is where their star designation should come in. Or, maybe a point increase, but 3 grades higher? This is why I stay away from the high end slabbed stuff. They throw the standards out the window for eye appeal and forget about technical merits. On the other hand, maybe I'm just too picky.

Exactly right. Dave Bowers wrote the decription and was baffled by the grade. He said it was a "technical 65 or perhaps 64" but also said that it had the best luster of any seated half he had seen. Now THAT is saying something. Also, this was before NGC had the star designation.
The coin sold at just below MS66 price, so the condition was factored into the bids.
