Depends on what the negs say (retaliatory v. legitimage) and how bad I want the coin. Probably not.

let's hear the rest of the story

The summary doesn't really tell you anything. I can tell you from experience that there are some really wacky buyers around, the kind that will use PayPal right after the auction, and if they don't have the coin in three days they leave a negative.

No doubt about that. There are plenty of underserved negs out there. There are also plenty of deserved negs that never get placed out of fear. This seller actually has a pretty good profile, though. Over 99% with 3779 positives and only four negs over the past 12 months.

It would really depend on what the negatives are. If they are for non-delivery or overgraded coins, I wouldn't buy from the seller. If they are obviously retaliatory negatives from NPBs or whackos, then they wouldn't bother me.

I agree, same thing happened to me. Now I always wait until they leave feedback before I do for cases like these.

It would be important to find out if the seller offers a return privilege. Also, wise to contact a couple of the buyers submitting negative feedback. Plenty of screwball buyers out there. Anyone selling over 9,600 items is certain to run into more than a handful of them.

    Yes, I'd buy from them.
They say you can't please everyone but he's doing a good job. 4706 members left a positive with only 33 unhappy customers that you don't know the story to.

  • I probably would buy from this seller. I look at it this way,... if every car manufacturer had an internet feedback forum that could be publically viewed, and people decided not to purchase based on a .7% neutral to negative margine, there would be zero automobiles on the roads, because I guarantee that every manufacturer would have at least that many negs.

I realize it's comparing apples to oranges, but no matter what, eventually you're going to run into people that were just born to complain.

I think, overall, he has a pretty reliable track record. Yes.

  • I saw one person on ebay with a feedback of 77%. Another person who sold these coins claiming to be ancient thousand year old roman, or greek coins, 10 in a bag, and all of them each in an antique bag. Only $19.95! Heh, his feedback was about 93%. I don't think 99.3% is that bad at all. But you can really tell alot about the seller by comparing the good feedback vs. the bad feedback. Most of the negative feedback referred something to this: "It looks like the coins got run over with a truck". Also he couldn't spell anything correctly, another sign to look out for.

I agree, would review return policy and then ask seller to confirm.

And look at the nasty retaliatories he left for the last guy who left a negative.

As I said in my first post to this thread, it would depend on what those negatives say. And in this case, AH is one to avoid.

The numbers are ok so he must be a reputable dealer huh? image
But NO, I wouldn't buy anything from AH Collectibles unless Diane personally delivered it to my door. Diane is my coin fox even though she shuns me.

K6AZ - Why would you possibly say that? image Even though we've never crossed paths here, I want to thank you for your web site. I tried explaining to some people that I know why I avoid ACG. Once finding your posts and started directing them to your site. Now, they suddenly get it. Thanks!
