For 12 Grand It Better Damn Well Have An Additional Light Polishing - I Like My Coins Shiny!!

Someone help me with a link, please. Look at Ebay 3901219817 and the rediculous shill bidding going on for this poor 1893 S Morgan. Yeah, breaking it out to give it one last polishing was just what it needed. There's a legit 1893 S XF 45 in a PCGS slab that hasn't gotten a sniff for 9 grand in auction 3901506504. I should work for EBAY. I'd love to cruise around all day shutting down bums like this.
It seems to me the longer the auction discription, the more likely it's a con. Stick to concise, short and to the point.image

Sounds like a job for SHINEYCOINBOY...Where is he when you need'em...image
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
  • Thanks, Hookedoncoins. I searched, you are right. Back in 12/93 there was a post. He sold it on Ebay auction 2205103805 for $3225.00. It didn't have the additional polishing then. See, that polishing has paid off handsomely. He's up nearly 9 grand. I'm going to break every coin I own out and go to the local jewelers. I wouldn't mind increasing the value of my collection fourfold. image

Here is the coin before he decided to give it a good scrubbing. What a waste of a rare coin.

    Before Polishing

  • An older, cleaned, rare key date coin is not unusual. At that point, send it into NCS to conserve what's left and let it be. Why polish it? Someone that dumb shouldn't have the luck or good fortune to have a coin like that. INSANITY!!image

Before he gave it its recent polishing it wasn't a bad coin at all and had bids of $5,700 with five days to go when he ended the previous auction. Now it's horrible and if it was resubmitted to ANACS it would probably get a net grade of VG-8 or less. (Personally I feel it is worth Good-4 to Good-6 money.)
