ssshhhhh. don't tell anyone. I bought a sl@b!

Yes, I bought my first sl@b today. Of course, it is a Yugoslavian coin.

How does PCI rank among the TPG services??

My 2002 Krause lists it at $14.50, which is more than what I paid for it.

Bottom dweller service, but you really can't go to wrong for less than $14.50.

Nice coin. Although PCI isn't the highest among TPG, for less than $14.50, you can't go wrong. Do you have a pic of the reverse (i'm not familiar with this design)?

    Jarrett,

The slabbed coin is a 500 dinara, but the reverse is the same design as the 100 dinara below.

A 15 coin series. 100 dinara, 250 dinara, 500 dinara. 1 each denom for 1982, 2 each denom for 1983 & 84. Also some higher denom gold issues, but they are out of my league for now.

  • The 2003 Krause has the series at $13.50 each but Ebay examples would probably be a better estimate of value.

  • Basicallly, you got what you paid for.
    PCI is total crap, period.
I don't mean to be rude, I want to help you.
Avoid PCI and buy PCGS, NGC, or ICG.
Trust me, you will thank me later, especially if you ever go to sell the coins.

Sounds to me as though you got the slab for free. As long as you are happy with the coin, it doesn't matter what slab it is in!

Earlier PCI slabbed coins are very conservatively graded IMO. The one you bought is a newer slab and it's kind of hit and miss, you know, buy the coin and not the slab. For what you paid you did OK IMO. I don't avoid all PCI coins, just the ones that aren't priced right. Afterall, the most accurate grading system is $.

  • Agreed, I have a bid on a PCI graded coin now, and I am considering it a raw coin. As a matter of fact, it will be cracked out and go in the album. image
