    I don't have a graphic, but my candidate would be the alleged "Toned, VF" 1882 Peso, from Argentina, that I successfully bid on, recently. When it arrived, after payment to a prominent New York auction house, it turned out to have been significantly mutilated. There were gouges in the hair, and what appears to be metal removed around the head. Finally, the surface was ground down, giving the whole obverse a flat appearance.

    I once had to tell a history teacher of mine that her Churchill crown, that her brother gave her daughter as a christening gift( A gift that is given to a newborn... I am not sure what it is), was only worth one dollar Canadian. She rolled her eyes and said, "Well, I guess that's good news; I haven't been taking good care of it and I have to mention that [the coin is only worth one dollar] to my brother."
