Got me but it's a fun coin! Extraordinary of the wars, and a hedgehog; there's a story there... image

The obverse resembles a French Louis XIII 1/2 Ecu of that date (KM#228) - just a WAG as to the size - but I can't find anything remotely resembling that reverse anywhere in the 18th Century Krause under France or the French States.imageimage

It's a jeton from France, used as a counting instrument in a financial institution or governmental department of the time.

  • Not to by cynical, but if you or I posess it, it is not worth millions.

I suspect it's a porcupine, not a hedgehog. Definitely not worth millions, but not worthless, either. Very cool piece.

Very cool. I love the porcupine/hedghog/razorback on the reverse.

    Very unique design.

Mitchiner's JMT lists two reverse types for the 1667 one is a hedgehog and one is a wild boar. (According to him at least....)

That looks more like a wild boar/razorback than a hedgehog. Pretty nifty.
