Latest version of an old scam!

I haven't seen this particular phony EBay notice before. You would think that non-native English speaking scammers would at least have their spelling, grammar and choice of words checked before they post!

<< <i>After fraud complaints from the eBay members, the eBay Inc. had developed a security program against the fraudulend attempts of accounts thefts. For that we have to securise all the members informations by updating and checking the registrated informations. Please update your information by completing the form so we can check your account validity and your identity : >>

The message is addressed to "Dear [e-mail address] eBay User" and one of the blanks to fill in is your EBay identity!

Are the people stupid enough to fall for this kind of cr@p really capable enough to have anything worth stealing?

It isn't necessarily what the account they get has, but rather that they can run bogus auctions using the account and get the payments sent to them.

I had a much more convincing PAyPal spoof email sent to me this week. Of course, I will never click on link to PayPal or ebay unless it's a result of an auction listing or win.
