I really like the Sesqui if you can find one with a nice strike. They can be truely gorgeous, I'm not too fond of the Monroe, but they are generally inexpensive (in less than 64 grades) so that makes them sort of cool.
I like both! I think the Sesqui has an almost elegant (wrong word?), simple design that has it's appeal due to it's simplicity. The Monroe seems to have a bit more character, and probably has a bit more appeal to most. I also like the Monroe reverse.
an interesting point about the designs of these two coins: both contain a double portrait obverse, but they have a wierd reverse similarity, kind of.
the Liberty Bell design of the Sesqui was later copied for the reverse of the Franklin Half-Dollar while the reverse of the Monroe was itself an almost identical copy from a 1901 Pan-American Exhibit token, as can be seen below. i think this all rather interesting from the perspective of some who feel our current designs are tired and boring. evidentally, in the past with some classic issues, they made the most out of a design, using it multiple times!!
i tend to prefer the Sesqui, as much for the difficulty in finding a nice example as with how fine they look when found.

I really like the way the ocean currents surround the continental figures.

Gemini, thank you for another great coin pic!
