Other than the above ...he seems to be handling it with his bear fingers...thats always nice it the prevention of spotting the coin. He could have atleast put on some gloves if he were going to shoot pics of his fingers.......
This coin is further evidence that the toning fad is maybe reaching a nadir and may soon begin a decline. Clearly this well worn coin has been cleaned and AT'd. As I've said before, that's like stripping and painting a piece of antique furniture... makes it worth less, not more. Maintaining natural state is a basic principle of collecting anything that is rare and old. This principle will eventually re-assert itself in coin collecting. Atomic

The 1891 dime being offered looks like a real space filler. Aside from the fact the coins been cleaned and retoned, it has more hits , dings and scratches on it than any coin I have seen recently. ( No I don't want to see any other ugly coins, to prove me wrong), .....the coin found by a metal detector is 100 times nicer.

Ok, so i checked it out again this morning with clearer eyes and less fuzzy thinking. It's freakin ugly. I wonder how the seller will respond to my email about how he toned it.
PS, that metal dectector one is actually very nice.
millenium, Quite an impressive collection of coins from Hanover Park, Halifax Square and other spots. Curious to know the general ratio of coins to bottle caps, modern pennies and other stuff? Atomic

I beg to differ. It doesn't look anything like that one.
