Going to Portland

I booked my hotel room tonight. This is very exciting for me -- my first large coin show, and also the first vacation with my four-month-old son. Mom and I figured it would be good to take him along on a shorter road trip to see what it's like...

  • Have fun! It looks like it should be a great show with the coin market like it is.

  • I like visiting Portland. Not sure about the young one, but if the Blazers are in town you should pick up some tickets -- decent time for your after-coin activities. Rose Garden has good food and it's interesting to see Paul Allen sitting right near the floor.

  • With the young one we'll probably end up going to either the zoo or one of the gardens (Japanese, Chinese, or Rose). He loves animals and flowers. Of course, I showed him a shiny gold coin once and he seemed interested in that too, so maybe he'll be a collector someday.

This will be my first ANA show. How does it compare to the one held at Long Beach? Bigger? Smaller? More or less exciting?

    WACoinGuy,

Congratulations on your new addition to the family! When we met last year, I think your wife was 8 months along.

I will be at the Portland show just on Friday for the day, too busy at work right now for more days.

Have a nice vacation, it should be interesting and fun. The big shows don't hit the great Northwest very often.
