Who said gold would never see $3000.00 an ounce?

link to ebay auction

I didn't realize these things were bringing in this kind of money, and not even an ms-69.image

And, it hasn't even met reserve. Are these really bringing that kind of money, or is this one a fluke?

    I think I'm gonna cry.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Reserve is met. Do death coins bring that much of a premium these days? imageimage

NO, I think it says reserve met. This one's a sale. I have no idea if they have sold for this much before. The fluke was that I even found the auction in the first place. (Being so private and all)image

  • I think the auction title is both deceptive and a keyword spam. So what if the coin is NO MS69. Why not say it's "NO MS67," or "NO MS65," or any other grade. More to the point, why not be honest in the title and say "ungraded." Answer: to scam those who don't read cautiously.

    Anyone deal with seller capital-investments?

I agree....yes I have seen him selling these coins for a long time on ebay. I purchased a silver eagle from him, because I wanted the 2001 ms 69 for my registry set. I know I paid way too much for it, but I wanted it for the history. I assume the same thing is happening right now, only in gold and at golden prices!

i've wanted one of those WTC coins for a long time. Save way I want a coin from a shipwreck. i wonder so much about a coins history anyway, it would be nice to know at least a little piece of it. Just so damn expensive.

if i was a bidder, i'd certainly want my identity protected

How do we know that this coin sold? The bidders identities are secret, could be the bidding was shilled up to create a price for other WTC center coins they are trying to sell.
  • 7-8x melt for that! I don't think so. Sure there in some intrinsic value because of where it was, but not anywhere near that much.
