I have about 100 of them. Friends, family, their neighbors, my neighbors, my local dealer, eBay, people on my site, etc...Ended up with more of them than I bargained for.
One person I know was the lucky recipient of one of the dollar coin things...
ANACS will slab them as the Cheerios cents as long as you send it in the original packaging. They will only charge $7.00 per coin.
There was a person on eBay several months ago selling like 45-50 of them in one lot. I think it sold for a mere $5.00. I would have bought them for that.

Yes, on the back your suppose to write some special event of Y2K, I had Tommy Thompson(discoverer and writer of SS Central America) sign it at Long Beach.

I knew I had the cent, but I just checked and I still have the box of Cheerios. I knew I never ate breakfast, but keeping a box for over 4 years is saying something.

I had forgotten about these until this thread... I remembered wanting one, now HOPEFULLY, I'll have one soon... (Hopefully because the seller on has a feedback rating of 2.)
I've got one.I would send it in to get slabbed as it's 67-68 but its got spots.I'll hang on to mine though, something to show my grandkids when I'm old.
Yep.. I also had forgot about them until this post. As I remember they failed to put a window on the back, so you can never see the reverse unless you open the thing. Brain surgens they are not.
Wow, this is the first that I have ever heard of this. I wish that I would have know. Oh, well, I'll have to go down the cereal isle from now on when I go grocery shopping.

Ah, the Cheerio Cent...about 9-10 months back, I was eBay and came across this baby...
It is a Reverse Inserted Cheerio Cent. This is the Only Reverse inserted cent I know of, a True 1 out of 10,000,000...thinking of having it put in a plaque...

I still have two on the card. I also have two unopened boxes of Cherrios. I wonder what Cherrios looks like after 17 years of just sitting in a closet. I hope they're bug free. I've seen a couple of prepper vids where some supplies got infested...
Anyone want to buy a box of 17 year of cereal? Heh...
Edit: Just noticed this thread is 13 years old. I guess the poll didn't survive the transition...
Those are the only two I could find. There were some listed earlier on ebay, but those auctions are gone. I find this bizarre. They manufactured 10+ MILLION boxes of cereal.
Apparently, people have gone as far as to x-ray and metal detect these boxes. Mine haven't been (they've hardly seen daylight in 17 years), but who are you to believe me? Maybe I should.
This means I would have been better off buying boxes of Cheerios in 2000 than Fifty State Quarter bags. That's depressing.
Anyone got an idea of what they're worth today? (I am downsizing, so I'd be getting around to asking this question sooner or later. Boxes of cereal take up a lot of space...)
For nostalgia sake (and since I had the scanner hooked up and connected anyway), I scanned the obverse and reverse of the box:
I have five...maybe six of the cents on the original card...just looked at them last week, wondering why I keep them. Still look for one of the Sacs at yard sales...never know what a 'junk' box will contain. Cheers, RickO

None of them, the type 2 came out late in the year and to the best I have heard none have ever been found in the cheerios packages.

Are you serious??? What type of designation would be on the slab? Probably just a simple "Cheerios".

Yeah, they will. That's the cool thing with ANACS, they'll give you special attributations. I want one of the sac dollar cheerio cents.
I have been looking for the Cheerio Sac Dollar for a while. I still haven't seen one on ebay. Of course I may have missed it though.

I do now. Just picked this one up on ebay.
There was one on ebay with the Sac dollar that went for over $50.
Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies.

I have one, and that is one to many.

Yes, I have one from when they were issued.
(I was going to take this to PM, but thought some of this might be mildly interesting to someone ...)
Well, you made me look. I've got two unopened boxes in a ziplock bag. Can't find any info on value.
One unopened box supposedly sold for $215 in 2007. One sold in 2012 for $56 (plus $18.76 in shipping).
Those are the only two I could find. There were some listed earlier on ebay, but those auctions are gone. I find this bizarre. They manufactured 10+ MILLION boxes of cereal.

I had fun with this one. So did a former member or two, (Walmann & ? ) when they sent me this long ago ( complete with frame) :
Where's the poll ?
I have 1 that I picked up from the coin club auction. May have paid $1 for it.
The seller's story of eating Wheaties was very enjoyable.
I still have one in the card.
