Hockey Turn around Times

Hey there:

Well I have seen quite a few posts about how fast people are getting there cards graded with the latest Set Reg Special and it appears that most of the cards are Baseball. I have a couple of submissins in myself and have yet to have any luck getting them graded. I understand they say it can take 35 days and all but I am curious if any of the hockey collectors have had the quick turna arounds that the Baseball people have. I getthe feeling that Hockey gets put in the to be graded later pile. Just currious thats all.

Cheers.

Bummer. I'm getting ready to submit an invoice of mainly '72 OPC. What did you send in?

  • A bunch of 1985 OPC. I am getting ready to submit another hundred or so myself again, but I want to see how these graded before I do.
  • I sent in 125 hockey cards and they received it on Feb. 2nd. Although mine were pre-72, so they are not part of a special, so I'm curious how long they will take. My guess is 2-3 weeks. I'll let you know.

I collect Vintage Hockey cards in PSA 8 or better.
  • Any mopre of the 1971 OPC Set? Mine have been in since Jan.16th.

I've had 2 completed submissions of just '72 Hockey that were sent for the set registry special, my 1st batch was 2-3 weeks ago and took 3 days, my last batch was rec'd 2/3 and finished & shipped 2/9 (hopefully it will arrive today). There is another I shipped a couple of days ago that hasn't been rec'd yet. And another batch of modern cards (no hockey) that was rec'd on 12/29 that hasn't been processed yet. So turnaround certainly varies, but I have no complaints w/ their service. Grades were tough but fair, I got less PSA-9's on the Hockey then I anticipated and a few 7's which I didn't expect...jay
  • Thanks for the info. I am not mad in any way. They said 35 days so that is what I am expecting. Iam just currious on how other hockey guys are doing. Did you get any OPC Graded?

I sent in 2 submissions that were all hockey. One was 73s and 74s received 1-16, shipped 1-27. The other was just 73s received 1-9, shipped 1-28.

The 74s were OK mostly 8s, the 73s were GREAT, about 20% 9s, many 1/1s. The Bruins team card just went for $107.50 on Ebay, not bad for a 1/2.
  • Do youhave any other 1980 OPC next to the Milbury?
  • I have had 7 submissions of vintage hockey in the last 2 months. I received results on all with 2-10 business days.

I think your issue is so much hockey as it is modern bulk.

I sent in a 25-card submission including nine hockey cards (all Gretzkys). Received 1/30 and the grades have not posted yet. I've noticed that the more alike your cards are, the faster the turnaround times. For instance, if you submit 50 1986 Fleer basketball, they're much more likely to be graded quickly than 50 different cards.

You need to buy my extra Sweeney Schriner '36 opc D rookie card.
It really does need to have the grade re-evaluated.

I also have the Sly Apps in raw VG'ish (mostly back troubles) very very tough (only Broda is tougher).
I'll have some Ice Kings in the 5-6 range too, I don't think any HOF'ers though.

Don't look for any submissions to get done this week, that aren't due on the 5 day special.
  • I PM'd ya

    Bossox,
You might want to consider your choice of a Syl Apps rookie card.
what they never told you about the 1936(?) WWG
  • if you count 1934-1936 Diamond Matchbooks as cards, it would change many player's rookie card designations.
