Just received a PCGS upgrade

Turned in 1904 Barber Half Proof MS-64 in 1st Gen rattler. Came back PR-65 Cameo.

A round of jelly donutes for the house.

The nice thing is that the coin has a beautiful

even goldish toning darkening to a red around the rimes Abv and rev. I even fostered

hopes of a two point increase, but a bear cant be a pig about this sort of thing.

Well, I paid a price for this beauty at the recent Goldberg Auction, but I think that the Cameo

designation and the relative rarity of the date, plus toning place me nicely in the profit zone.

First upgrade in over a year, wahoo.

Congrats on the upgrade. The price increase between PF 4 & PF 5 is significant. That being said, I wouldn't get excited re the CAM designation; it's pretty common on Barber and late date Seated PF coins.

PCGS DOES give upgrades, though not often. I got one five years ago. Sure feels good, doesn't it?

Nice to see the PCGS mistake did not cost you. I still remember the MS64 Liberty Nickel that came back as PR64. Only dropped in value by 60%. PCGS made good by putting it back into the MS holder instead of paying the difference.

Nice. Not all the Barber proofs are cam. I've seen some that were cam at one time, but were cleaned over the years and lost some of the cam contrast. You seem to have a nicely preserved one. Good job on the upgrade. I hope to do the same on a MS64 California. The only US coin I know of that had a bear on it
