I visited Julian at his coin shop today. Julian is such a nice person! I told my wife he always makes me feel special even though I don't buy anything. In fact, he makes Everyone who comes in his shop feel special! Whether somebody comes in and wants to know the price of a circulated wheat cent or to purchase something, they receive the million dollar treatment!
.
Thanks Julian!

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
He had a table at the Seattle ANA convention, back in the early 1990's. He had an Isabella quarter graded NGC65--gorgeous toning. I had an Isabella quarter graded PCGS65--average coin, steel gray toning. In my newbieness, I thought I would just swap coins with him. I liked the color of his. Why not? I'm doing him a favor right? PCGS coins move better and are worth more. Everybody knows that, right?
Well, he took the wind out of my sails and said "no thanks." But, he did it in such a gracious way, and took time to explain a couple things about the market and coins to me... that I did not know. I walked away appreciating his kindness and his class. Obviously, it's something I still remember.
Because, as many of you know, courtesy--especially in the heat of a coin show--can be a rare thing. Especially, when a person like me (a little green behind the ears) didn't exactly see the whole picture yet.
So cheers to Julian.
