    Where is your ACG sample?
  • Where is your ACG sample?

To expensive for me....... Did you see what our friend just paid for some on eBay??

  • I was only able to get one of those ACG samples. The other ones got past and I wish I bid more.

Those ACG prices realized and the so-called Proof in the 1s1 flipped my lid.

Cameron... Is there any kind of a price guide for sample slabs??
  • No, there are none. It might be years until a price guide is made. The market isn't big enough.

just curious as I have 6 or 7 I have picked up at shows for a few bucks each.
  • I've got to get around to checking ebay more often. I didn't know those ACG samples were there or the bids would have been higher since I still need one. From looking at the bid histories it appears that there are at least six of us who are SERIOUS sample slab collectors. (serious being defined as someone willing to pay $50 or more for a sample slab.)

aw, c'mon, the six of you that collect sample slabs seriously can come up with a price list image

  • How can we come up with a price list? We're still trying to come up with a complete list of all the varieties.

    Jim,

Two more are on the way today.

    Cheers,

  • Very nice collection Jim - congrats and good luck with future pieces. I really like the 106th anniversary NGC slabs! Cool! image

You are doing well, subject 15837. You are a good person.
  • ? Why didn't the companies post a grade for state quarters?

Well, I know how I would do it, but I don't think the slab collectors would like my price structure.

Hint: Cameron, I'd value all of the sample slabs at roughly 20% more than I've been charging you. image

If only you knew what the exact population of each were - you could then value them

they are very similar to patterns - well, maybe they will be in 200 years

oops, I guess they never will be because they do not have any cool coins inside, they are just a plastic shell

well then, as a variety is acquired, list the price paid, and there's your price list!

and if you sell one, update the price list with the price sold.

6 serious collectors willing to pay more than $50???

Make it 5 now since I dropped my top buying price from $51.45 to $49.65.

So cameron you need to drive the last nail in MrEureka's coffin.

How about forming a Society of U.S. Sample Collectors! We should have annual meetings at the Baltimore show in November. We should alljoin and make MrEureka the honorary 1st member!!!

A Collectors Universe poster since 1997!
  • Sounds good to me, but why just U.S.? Make it the Society of Sample Slab Collectors (SSSC), bring your collection or pictures and we can use it a a clearinghouse for compiling information of new varieties as well. Only problem is I won't be there. I don't travel that far. (Although I may have to start considering it. Even flying is difficult. Have to travel 60 miles just to get to an airport.)
  • Arrived today. This is the "surprise" that Al sent to me.

  • Need to see the other side. (Yes I'm stealing the pictures for updating the book.)

By the way, does anyone have one they want to sell?
  • I have a pic of the reverse on my website.

Had no idea there were so many of them out there. NGC sent me one with a euro inside it.
  • I started out collecting PCGS sample slabs for the Statehood Quarters, but I am presently trying to figure out if I want to keep them or not...

At the moment I have four:
    - 1999D Delaware, MS00
    - 1999D New Jersey, MS00
    - 1999P Georgia, NG00
    - 2000P New Hampshire, MS00

If I were to receive an acceptable offer, I'd be tempted to part with them... (PM with questions if interested)

    Matt
  • How do we PM when you don't have it turned on?

I'd LOVE to have that "Luncheon" slab...anyone else have one they'd like to part with?

    Cheers,

    Bob
