It is an evil thing that leads to obsessive compulsive behavior. Avoid them at all costs. You ever seen Invasion Of The Body Snatchers? It's far worse.

  • would it just be a common coin slabbed to show grade? if so i have a few of these. Russ, you are always full of wisdom!
  • Russ is full of other stuff on this.

Go to www.sampleslabs.com and read the intro. It explains it there. They may have a grade, but usualy have the word "sample" on the holder.

Sample Slabs are very rare & valuable & desirable historical items documenting the progression of the grading services and they contain very rare & valuable & desirable coins.
At least mine do. Here's some:

Oh no! They've gotten to Dog! There was no hope for a wienie like Cammie, but to take over a strong-willed normal person?! Are we all doomed?

Hahhahaha shows what you know-check Conder101's books & CD's; he doesn't give any credit to the newcomer Keifercoins but he does to Dog97. Lots of the pictures in his old spiral bound edition were examples from my collection.

Next edition will. I've more than tripled the known sample slab section.

  • I consider my sample slab collection a significant investment. Rare sample slabs can be extremely scarce and fetch some high prices.. like 25 dollars. So I'm looking to protect my investment.. are there any services out there who will slab my sample slab? I think we need third party sample slab grading and authentication services. With all those fake sample slabs coming out of China, I need to know my sample slab is authentic.. it's very dangerous to buy a raw sample slab.

So.. is PCGS going to step up to the plate and slab my sample slab?

Yeah yeah yall been looking @ the Open Forum and seeing all those pictures of Keifercoins and thinking eeek...geek and doing the cam slam & bashing his slabs but I aint no clean cut cop I look like a recruiting poster for the Hells Angles and if you ever saw me with my AK-47s and Sample Slabs that would add a big coolness to them. They are so cool that I even put them in Registry Sets Text Man I had to do a lot of sweet talking Dena to pull that off!
Here's some more very rare & valuable & desirable historical items; I mean like these are $15 coins according to the PCGS Price Guide, image

  • The casino chip slabs sell for $20-30! The steel cent is worth $30-40! It's not the coin, but the plastic and the label that holds the rarity.

I was checking out jmoore's site the other day, the one he used to have in his sig line, and he has some neat & interesting samples too. Text
These slabs that other collectors thought were off the wall weird and never gave a second thought to have really increased in popularity in the last 2 years.
I remember when I first started collecting them the only competition I had was Conder101 & he wasn't afraid to step up for a good one.
Now there's about 5-10 colllectors trying to grab them and a market is being made for them. Common ones are common & cheap but the rare models have a little prem just like any other collectable. I think it has something to do with Keifercoins controlling and manipulating the market image He's caused the price I have to pay to go up but he shaken some good ones loose that we have never been seen and put them on the market.
Since I'm dog97 it only stands to reason I have Sample Slabs associated with 1997 so what better example than the ANA Convention in 1997:
