    It's OT, but you asked... This is actually 4 verses but it is only one sentence in Greek:

    Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 8:2 For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. 8:3 For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 8:4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

    While I have several favorites, this is a bit OT on this forum - what brought this on??
    "My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.
  • Hi luckoftheirish. I have MANY. How about Matt. 5: 9 which says; "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." And what about this great one; "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Eph. 2: 8). I could go on and on... image matteproof

    Off Topic, something not related to US Coins.
  • Matteproof,
    Hey, I wish they would put some these verses on our coins. Wouldn't that be grand and OT. (On Topic )

  • Hi luckoftheirish. Yes, I think it would be GREAT to have some Biblical verses on coins. I'm pleased that we have the terrific "motto" coinage which at least touches on the theme. image matteproof

    Here is a favorite of mine, though not exactly a verse, but still on topic for a coin forum.

    "DEO EST GLORIA" or "God is Glorious" - have wanted to own a pattern with that on it since I first saw it on the Eliasberg Quintiple Stella. imageimage

    Hebrews 11:1

    Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what is not seen.

    That is a very powerful statement...

    Absolutely
  • Ezekiel 25:17
    The path of the rightous man is beset on all sides
    by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny
    of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of
    charity and justice shepherds the weak through
    the valley of darkness for he is truely his
    brothers keeper and the finder of lost children
    and I will strike down upon thee with great
    vengence and furious anger those who attempt to
    poison and destroy my brother and you will now my
    name is the Lord when I lay my vengence upon thee.

  • All of these are excellent choices. My favorite is:
    GENISIS 2.0:
    "Thus the heavens and the Earth were finished, and all the hosts of them".
    This tells me the Mars rovers are looking for Hosts. Notice HOST is not singular.

    In the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God.

  • Trying to pick your favorite verse of The Holy Bible is like trying to pick your favorite limb, or your favorite dessert or your favorite word. The Word of God is too vast and too awesome to break it apart.

    But I will share the verse my family has adopted as our family verse...

    Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh."

    Another great one to live by is..

    Eph 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. "

    And then a great reminder is...

    Rev 17:14 "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful. "

    ps, how is In God We Trust offensive?
    "Repent, for the kindom of heaven is at hand."

    don't know that I can pick out a single verse, as there are so many that have a impact and a life changing effect on me....

    Gods word is alive, and it feeds the Soul........... It is the living water....

    I have found that if I can believe the very first vs in the Bible.... I can believe it all....

    Genesis 1:1

    In the Beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.....

    And I believe.......

    When you see the trees, the stars, the animal life, when you look into the mirror...... You are seeing the fingerprints of a wonderful and loving Creator.........

    bigindie was used by the Lord for his loveing purposes, though we don't understand why, the Blessed Lord called bigindie home and the Lord told bigindie this:

    "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' "

    mine is not a verse...but a whole chapter written by the prophet Isaiah.

    written 600 years before the birth of Jesus...

    Isaiah 53 says it all.
  • To every thing there is a season
    From The Bible, Old Testament Ecclesiastes iii

    To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

    A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

    A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
  • Wow, it is so awesome to see so many brothers and sisters on this forum.

    But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
