Still have one more coin to go, but I was anxious to share this with you guys. Hope it doesn't take too long to load. My goal was to put together an original looking collection that looks like it could have been put together from circulation a hundred years ago. Hope you like it.

Nice matched set that looks good in the album.

I like the way the grades range from AG to BU with most of them being around F/VF but yet having the same basic "look."
A nice well matched set.
When you gonna start the date/mm set?

<< <i>That is awesome. May I humbly suggest that you display the reverse on the four mintmarked coins? >>
Wondo, you beat me to it.

I never thought of showing the reverse on the last page...excellent ideal. I'll switch them over tonight and try and get a picture up tonight. I'm on business travel for the next few days, so if not tonight, then later this week.
I'll definitely repost the set when I get the 1895-O.
A few highlights, for those that are interested:
Four of the coins are Top 100's: 1878-CC VAM-6 (cherrypicked), 1879-CC VAM-3 (cherrypicked), 1888-O VAM-4 hot lips, and 1891 VAM-2. The '93 is a well worn CC. Baley's right, the '91 needs to be downgraded, but it's a lovely AU-58 that I bought at Rare Coins of New Hampshire. All the rest are VF's and below. About a third of the coins were bought at my local dealer, San Diego Coin & Bullion, and many from CU member, PopTopRus (Jared). Thanks Jared! Almost all the coins were bought sight-seen.
It took about 2 years to get to this point. I started out with blast white examples and then decided to do something a little different. Originally the coins were in flips, but then I saw Baley's type set and I was hooked. This set was a little tough to put together, but not too difficult. I was picky. I wanted the grades to look similar.
I had several XF's in the set and decided to sell them (along with MS's) and just collect VF's that looked about the same. And I just love the way coins look in albums.
i love it!

For my fellow newbies, I highly recommend this set as your first one. The coins are all affordable, you learn a lot about grading, and there's some great reference books on Morgans.
After I get the '95-O, I'll be working on my type set and downgrading/upgrading this Morgan date set.
The '91 looks to clean though.
I agree with Wondo..the reverse of the mint mark 4 might be better since that is their purpose in life.

There are lots of AU and lower Morgans in anacs slabs in Heritage auctions and on ebay. That would be the way to go for better date circs.

You are doing well, subject 15837. You are a good person.
<< <i>where is a good source to purchase circulated morgans? >>
Here's where I purchased the coins, all raw. I'll add the links tonight when I get home from work (don't have the URL's here at work):
San Diego Coin & Bullion - not much material on their website, but if you are ever in San Diego, this is a great shop to visit. Conservative graders, but prices a little on the high side. Their advice is well worth the full retail prices.
Old Coin Shop - another San Diego shop with a very good website. Nearly all of their coins are raw and their grading can be a little liberal, so it's best to buy their coins sight-seen.
JJCoins - one of our CU members. Jared is a great guy to buy collector grade coins from. Anyone that will spend the time to find a $14 dollar coin for you is a pleasure to work with.
Rare Coins of New Hampshire - IMO, the best place to buy raw, sight-unseen coins. Very accurate grading. The '91 is from them and it's the only original looking AU-58 Morgan that I have - that's why it's in the album.
Jake's - huge inventory. They are a very big mail order house, but I've had excellent results from them. I think Michael, the owner, is a CU member. I've had to return a few coins, but they all were immediately refunded, no questions asked.
And last, eBay. I bought exactly one coin from an eBay seller that I didn't know. (The other eBay purchases were from Jared.) I feel like I got extremely lucky, the coin is original. Unless I know the seller, I won't buy any more raw coins from eBay. It's just too risky for me.
Hope this helps.
Edited to add links.

<< <i>That does it...I'm gonna do a circ date set... >>
PJ, you'll have a great time working on it...glad I motivated you to start one, especially since I'm almost finished with mine!
<< <i>Well my hunt is on...I won a F 90-CC and a VF 91-CC in yesterday's Heritage internet auction, and I already have the 94-O..... >>
My experience was the CC's were the easiest to find. When I got desperate (due to budget), I'd spring for a nice CC. I ended up with 4 of them and my 1878 CC is my favorite coin in the whole set.
Too often, people don't realize just how beautiful a circulated set can be. You did a great job with yours. Enjoy it.
