    Hi Bill,

The caps don't bother me, I have a hard time hearing anyway! I for one am always willing to listen and learn from one who has been there and done that. Some, nay most of us appreciate your post.

"Many collectors are changing gears and collecting other series due to the increase in prices elsewhere just as WC asserts...this series seems ripe to me for an influx of fresh blood; in fact it may be the bargain series of the 20th century at this time. Do you see any reasons why the Mecury Dime series might never get its "day in the sun"?"

RELLA: Very good point. You know the cyclical nature of series of coins. Early date Walker prices are still through the roof (ex: pop 9/1 1919(d) in MS65 for $140,000 earlier this month). Early date Buffalos super strong, early Lincolns - forget about it, SLQ's finally showing renewed strength. Mercs - pockets of weakness which a few people are taking notice of now. Not to mention a series that has going for it a BEAUTIFUL and very popular 20th century coin. Some folks like to buy when a series is at all time high prices, while some like to buy when a series (popular as well) has corrected downward substantially.

I must admit - I have my plate rather full right now with the misc. series I am working on, but, I will take a closer look at these Mercs at auction and perhaps put a "toe" in the series with the acquisition of a couple coins that might be off the "radar screen" right now image

Bottom Line - If and when a particular coin sells,it will sell for what a willing buyer and seller deem a PROPER VALUE !

Mitch - This statement is so misleading. Why don't you ask Dave Schweitz who is probably the BEST market maker in the business. He
is much better than you and myself.Heck I don't know Jack about pricing 1919 D Merc dimes or 1919 d Lincoln cents.

I would say that coin collecting is motivated by desires on the part of the collector and money on the part of the dealer.Since Joshua has told you he feels the price of the coin is close to $100K and he is the ultimate collector.......what are you going to do?

Bill Dominick - Even though your an OLD DOG I would bet anything that Gloria can teach you new tricks.

In time Grasshopper. Dave is still a bit sidetracked with his continuing efforts to recover his missing $100k+ 1919(s) quarter. 1919 is not the best date to discuss with Dave these days
