Humorous auction listing mistake

I don't know if this is a deliberate attempt at deceit or if the listing is just a comedy of errors.
This PCGS 1873 closed 3 MS65 IHC is being marketed as RD. Look at the slabbed image. A small piece of tape or ribbon has been placed over the second letter of the color designation on the insert making it unreadable. It's also apparent from the image that the coin is not RD and barely looks RB. A lookup of the PCGS cert # confirms the coin is RB not RD.
To the credit of the dealer the coin is priced as a RB not a RD as a true RD would run at least 4x the starting price.
Anyway this listing is worth a good laugh.
Edited to add the auction has been corrected

Personally I have NO recollection of these people ever being called "Bad Dealers" on this board. They have caught hell for shipping costs and coin prices a couple of times but that is about it.
Some of the statements made in this thread are just plain mis-leading.......
Ken
Nice Edits I see.....whats up with that ? Spelling ?
Ken
Ken, The claim was the AUCTION was deceitful or misleading, not necessarily the dealer.
That is if it is not EDITED by now.
I saw your point.....
Ken
As far as their reputation is concerned, I've never had a problem with them.
good deal
Coins arrived ASAP and I was happy.

There was a mistake on the listing of this auction, key word "a mistake" to call it a scam or deceitful is surely a flame! We are only human and from time to time we will make a mistake in a listing.
We are sorry for the mistake, and we in no way tryed to pull a fast one on anyone! The label is something we have used for years at coin show's to tell us this is a key date, or a expensive coin. In no way do we use these lables to hide anything.
We thank those that have emailed us of the mistake, once it was brought to our attention, I fixed it.
We also thank those who stood up for us during the flamming!
Also I might add that we list on a average 500 auction's a week, to do this we must be fast at the key boards, and from time to time a fat little finger will hit a wrong key (typo). Also at the same time when listing 500 auction's we will need to take 1500 pictures for 500 auctions. Try this and see how easy it is with out one or two mistakes or even a blurred picture from time to time.. And at the same time we are answering phone call's and email's and helping the show circut crew get ready for the road.
I will end this by saying thank you to all that take the time to email us when they see an error in one of our listing's.
Have fun coin collecting!
Gary @ fairtraderz
Looks like he made a mistake with the original listing and then corrected it. As for the label on the coin, If you go to any show where John sets up you will see hundreds of his coins with this colored labels - sometimes they're to identify consigned coins, sometimes to ID higher priced coins, at one show he had different colored labels for different coin denominations - I think brown & white was for copper - which made it easy for me to quickly look thru the copper that I collect. At a typical show John Schuch buys and sells thousands of coins - VERY fairly. I don't work for him - I buy from him - the suggestion that he is scamming anyone is completely unwarranted!

I have had just a few eBay transactions with this dealer and all have been on the up and up. I wish that I could afford to do more business with this dealer.
This was too obvious to be anything but an error.
BTW welcome to the boards
<< <i>I think the dealer has been discussed here before and is not considered to be one of the "good guys." >>
totally disagree, your paranoia is much of what's "wrong" with dealers getting a bad rap these days. i've bought several coins from fairtraderz / john schuch, & found them to be ethical & reliable, AND they will bargain. gary is a good guy too.
why throw out this kind of nonsense on a public forum? you should be ashamed.

PS saw where some people retracted their statements, good for you. mistakes happen!

Karl,
Gimme a break! fairtraderz is allowed to make a public mistake and others are not? I previously apologized publicly as I have not had any first hand experience with fairtraderz. As a rule, I avoid ebay peddlers that sell a large volume of SEGS/PCI material. Perhaps I am in the minority and wrong for doing so.
My apologies again to fairtraderz.
Robert
SORRY!!!
K S
You were (mostly) right, and I was (mostly) wrong. One should not discredit someone here or elsewhere without a good reason.
Mea culpa!
Robert
P.S. I was thinking about buying a group of PCI and SEGS slabs from fairtraderz as a penance. Appropriate?

The thread your reading now was started a year ago. It was an honest eBay listing mistake. (Typo)
This isn't!
