I have waited till the end to chime in. Good points made by everyone. Although I own my home free and clear-having lived in this very spot since 1986 -although EVERY carrier knows me personally/ even thought my last Name and numbers are in big bold White letters on a Black mailbox, there is not a week that goes by that the carriers do not fail to screw up! There must be a terrible epidemic of "H I A" disease around here. The carriers will hand me things that I have ordered, with the Green card still attatched to the parcel , forgetting to have me sign it . I watch them all like a hawk and am waiting the next day with the Green Card in my hand! They all know what goes on here! I, as a buyer, WILL NOT conduct business with any seller that does not make insurance available to me...it's their free pass just not to ship at all! I have even had US Mint orders delivered as far as 100 miles away from here because some person that makes a damn good living -having passed a postal exam mysteriously is unable-too buzzed up to read a Name and a #? What!! Every week, without fail, I have got to go down to the Veterinarian's Office to retrieve my mail, Sometimes I get the Health Spa's stuff from across the street ! Needless to say-the Postmaster and HIS Bosses-even the mail room clerks know me on a first Name basis. Nothing is bought unless I am able to insure it. Delivery Confirmation does not work for me ,as someone else put it-it just means it was delivered somewhere. When I sell, there is no chance for any funny business,"I never got it" crap as I make it clear that insurance is not an option -IT IS MANDATORY for both the buyers' protection as well as mine! No cutting corners! Also across the street, next to the Health Spa is an Apartment complex with transients of questionable behavior. They sit around all day doing nothing but getting loaded, At night they are sitting atop a 3 story building ON THE ROOF-SMOKING SOMETHING They are watching and they know that I am watching them with a pistol tucked in my pants an an 80 Pitt Bull from Hell by my side. Even UPS made the mistake ONCE of just leaving a package on the back porch! Naturally, it grew legs. Gee, I wonder who may have done the stealing...these human weather vanes that perch on the roof or what? No-we don't play -uh-uh! Can't have a PO Box as when I use the credit card as everyone knows the stuff gets delivered to the address on the card! Just pay attention and take care of business-don't cut corners and keep your eyes open and you won't get burned! Beside the people that work in the mail rooms across this Great Land of ours have been caught on tape stealing all sorts of thing. I want my $#!+ delivered right here where I can meet the carriers every morning- eye ball to eyeball!
I don't get what you mean here. You say the postman left the ENTIRE confirmation on the package.
When I deliver it I scan the delivery confirmation and leave it on the package? There is nothing for me to remove. And again upon placing, the scanner, upon returning to the office it is downloaded and available to check on the internet or the 800 number.
I don't get your statement.
<< send the item delievery comfirmation for another 50 cents or so thru the USPS... >>
Yep, that works very well. I sent a coin off with delivery confirmation. When I called the dealer I sent it to I found out that the USPS left the ENTIRE confirmation on the package in his mail box.
No, the Green Card -the rectangular one that is supposed to be sent back to the sender after I sign if-the perforated, solid Green one! OOOps......I see who you were talking to way up there!
<<"If you send me something and I don't receive it, you will either replace it or I will not pay (chargeback) for it. It is as simple as that.">>
I will if its my fault but not if its yours. I can't control things once it leaves my hands so I buy insurance. As a buyer its up to you to provide a secure address to send the stuff to.
<<"Can't have a PO Box as when I use the credit card as everyone knows the stuff gets delivered to the address on the card!">>
Thats real simple: change the billing address on your credit card to the P.O. Box
Also many places will send your goods to any address you specify.
I agree Bajjerfan. ..that would be easy enough but then I would have to go across town. I rather sit right here in my little office, look to my left when I hear the beep-beep-beep of him backing out of an old hadicapped neighbor's driveway and put the evil eye on him! Once some money orders were pretty late -late enough to where I actually asked him about them and Goober said, "Duh...ya mean these rot here?" What an idiot...How that man still has a job is a mystery!
