Has anyone ever thought about writing a coin book?

I think there is a need for a reference on Fractional Currency. I'd also like to see soemthing along the lines of ESC on British gold from 1663-1813.

Nobody has accepted the manuscript of my learned treatise on holed, ACG-slabbed chocolate Kennedy halves, for some reason. I can't see why it hasn't found a publisher yet- I mean, after all, it certainly fills a niche, as there is such a paucity of titles on the subject...

  • Yeh, sure I thought about it.. I mean I thought about it that LordM should write such a book and even told to him that! imageimage

Another point for "thinking about this topic" it seems to me that all our veterans already have contributed a lot for any potential coin book/books, only for example, I saw nice tips at site of Tbirde, one of last posts about e-bay sellers of Wybrit also could be a part (well humoristic one image) of such book, LordM guide about gradind of foreign coins, accumulated info from Jester's challenge and Severo's weekly coins and many many other things --such as Darkhorse lessons on Coin's digital Photog. and so on (sorry in advance for a lot of those contributers who weren't mentioned here) that list is the infinity one...

So what I'm trying to say : somebody can publish something like that : "Procedings from CU forum -last two years volumes" or something like that" image And it will be a real honour tome to buy sucha a book!

Hope that there are here some guys and gals who'll like that idea...imageimage

Writing a book assumes a wealth of knowledge on a particular subject. Don't think i'm qualified.

    Maybe someday...

Precisely what I was thinking. I am not sure I am qualified to write a book on anything except maybe fixing a scale which I have done for 25 years.

Bruce I very seldom disagree with your posts but I have to make a comment here.
Writing a book or any extensive paper requiresm a basic knowledge and a LARGE interset to do the RESEARCH. The research is the most work.
I am sure that many folks on here have written fairly large papers either or in school or work. It did not come easy, I am sure and with an expansion of some of these papers, in the correct format, you would have a book.

Just my opinion and NOT meant to be crtical of others.

I have to disagree on the Assumption that you Must know something to write a book on the topic.

I knew Tom Clancy when he was an Insurance agent in a small town in southern Maryland. He knew nothing about Submarines and less about the Navy. He did research and had knowledgable friends that knew how to get information. He has now sold Millions of spy novels and submarine /navy books

Amen to that -- I know several people who became experts in a particular subject by writing a book, as I hope to do this year. image
