2004 North American Coins & Prices Krause Publications

Someone gave me this book for Christmas. Yesterday I picked it up to check the prices listed for a particular coin.

MS60-$155
MS63-$145

I'm assuming that's a typo.

    yes, I would agree. image
  • Is that the same book I've seen in bookstores, that lists Canadian and Mexican coins also? If so, which would be a better price guide for Canadian coins, this guide or the Charlton guide? image

Yes. It's the same book. I can't compare it to the other since I'm not familiar with the other. Maybe a Greysider could offer their opinion.
  • Thanks, tassa. I've been told that Charlton is the Canadian equivalent of the red book, but the values listed are in Canadian dollars. Yours, I think, are in U.S. dollars. image

My recommendation is to use multiple pricing sources for all your coins. Krause is not a source I put alot of faith into, as they make multiple mistakes, particularly in the Coin Market section of Numismatic News. I've found that a combination of Coin World trends and the Gray/blue sheets is the best pricing average.

You know, come to think of it, there are certain coins that are more plentiful in BU than in circ. Certain Morgans come to mind.
