How does one find "local shows" - Michigan

I know that a lot of local coin clubs have their own shows (Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Lansing, etc.) but I am unable to find a schedule, on the web, or any place else, for them. Unfortunately, the Michigan State Numismatic Society does not publish these on their website. Any ideas?? - Jeff

The Coin World show calendar. The promoter has to pay to get listed there, but chances are if he has not listed the show there, the show does not amount to much as a numismatic event.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
  • Ok, everyone always says "Go to coinshows.com" but frankly... it's only good for telling you that there is a show in this quarter in this city. Almost no details on actual show schedules and most shows don't put information on the net except for the huge shows, so you can't find any shows. Probally should talk to local dealers, they might/should/probally know the details about local shows.

  • Actually for Illinois, Coinshows.com is pretty good. The promoters of the next 3 shows provide a link telling dates, show times, adress and promoters phone number.
It's to bad other promoters don't take advantage of this site. If I was traveling to another state It would be nice to check if there were any local shows in the area.
I agree with JRGman about calling up some dealers and asking if there's a show around. I bet once you hit one there will be other info there on other shows.

  • The Muskegon Coin Club has 2 a year. The first is the 3rd Saturday in March and the 2nd the 4th Saturday in October.
It's at the corner of US31 and Laketon Ave in the Select Auditorium.
    Runs from 9AM to 4PM.

  • PROMOTERS WHO USE COINSHOWS.COM GET RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like coinshows.com, and any show on there that doesn't have a link on there is worthless to me. The shows that DO have links are written down on my calendar. It costs promoters some cash to have a link on coinshows.com, but it is worth it!!!!

    Listen to this:
Just this past weekend, there was a small show in Western New York. I was out there visiting my girlfriend. Fortunately the promoter of the show USES coinshows.com and I was able to get a time, location, directions, etc. etc. to the show!! Guess what? I went to the show and dropped quite a bit of cash on some paper currency.

If this show was NOT advertized on coinshows.com I would not have gone and spent money at those dealer's tables. It sure is nice to expand your customer base BEYOND the local market when OUT OF STATE buyers come in and spend their cash at YOUR table at a SMALL one-day show!! Take note of my story, dealers and promoters: INSIST on advertizing your show on coinshows.com!!!!! I do not like to use internet buying for all of my items!! Coin shows give me a chance to talk to dealers and inspect items up close. If I don't know about the show, how can I attend? Coinshows.com is an under-utilized website, and it could be so much more if only promoters would realize how good it is!

**Disclaimer** I am not affiliated with coinshows.com and the praise and story I wrote above were UNSOLICITED. I am sharing this with you all because I'm very frustrated that it is so hard to find out about coin shows in my area! If ONLY people would take advantage of this website, I would attend more shows, and expand my collection.........
