Floored by florins (or "Slab Bash, Part 271")

This week I made a kind of exchange-- I sold a sample slab for $60 and bought a 1932 Southern Rhodesia 2 shillings for $59.
The gentleman who bought my sample slab was happy because he sold the last one like it for $76. I am well pleased with my latest purchase from Karl Stephens because it fits in well with my George V collection. It has the luster and eye-appeal of an MS-63 coin, but apparently there's a small rub somewhere that caused it to be listed as "Ch AU-- UNC". When I saw it I was stunned-- here is a coin that looks much better than the description.
I know, I know-- to each his own. Even so, I still think I got the better deal. I collect coins, not plastic.

That will just not be good enough for your collection. Post that "thing" to me right away and I will hide it over here.

Here's one that doesn't have great luster, but the strike is ultra-sharp.

Here's the regular issue counterpart to the 1934-35 Aussie commem photo I posted above.

That is un-fair competition. I don't sell cars. Well I might have to sell mine but that's another story.
I was just trying to be of help to Shiro, protect his collecting rep and hide that "thing" over here.

Australia 1935 florin (regular issue)
Australia-- 1927 Parliament Commemorative
Australia-- 1934-5 Melbourne Commemorative

Canada-- 1919 50 cents
Cyprus-- 1921 18 piastres
Fiji-- 1936 florin
Great Britain-- 1935 florin
India-- 1919 rupee
New Zealand-- 1934 florin
Newfoundland-- 1918 50 cents
Southern Rhodesia-- 1932 2 shillings
Straits Settlements-- 1920 50 cents
I still need the following:

South Africa florin
I don't have my list in front of me, so I think that would make a complete set.

I saw that sweet sample slab, you let it go cheap, dude!

Did you just order the florin off of Karl Stephens' price list? He always has lots of interesting stuff but I'm leery of ordering stuff sight unseen. I usually just hope the coins are interested in are still with him the next time we attend the same show.

The size of the florin and this nice crowned portrait of George V is an excellent choice and match.I see you've added the British West Africa one as well. Isn't it the one that was included in the Heritage Commonwealth lot? I think the winner is selling it piece by piece, because I recently bought the 45 pstr. And believe me, I'd be very happy if I owned your 1921 18 piastres. I'm only very recent to British Cyprus, and the average coins are really very ugly, uncollectable grades I'd say.
Congratulations on a very nice collection, and thanks for sharing it. I love that Newfoundland 50c btw.And I'm a George V fan too.

Very nice set of George V, Florins, a neat set to put together, haven't seen anyone doing that. Great Idea!.
It's a different one. I almost bid against you on the 45 piastres, but I'm still kicking myself for not bidding $100 or so higher on the Heritage lot in the first place.
The Mauritius rupee should be on its way to me soon. The South African florins aren't hard to come by, so I should be able to get one as soon as one catches my eye.
My George V shilling, half crown, and crown sets are faily far along, also, but I have only a few of the 3 and 6 p equivalents so far. Once I'm finished I'm going to measure all the coins and have a custom Dansco album made.

Excellent examples of so many coins. I have a question for you on the Australian Melbourne Commem Florin... Are there any business strike Proof like examples known? Have you seen a Proof example? I am trying to determine how many Proofs were minted and my older edition of Krause does not provide mintage figure. I know that the business strikes are tough and approximately 21,000 coins were melted. Any thoughts?

McDonald says there were 75,000 struck and 21,000 melted, though in another part of his same book he says 24,000 were melted. He does not list proofs, but gives a list price of $3,500 AUS in 1990 for specimens (no mintage figure, though).
I've seen very few of the commemorative florins, so I don't know if prooflikes exist.
I just realized that I haven't even scanned my 1927 Canberra commemorative.

The East Africa shilling is easy to find in UNC, but the florin is more of a challenge. This one was described as weakly struck with no discernable wear. It's hard for me to tell, but I guess I'll agree.
