This is the 2nd year I have sponsored this contest. The contest for 2003 just became final with the last issue of the CDN Weekly for 2003. Results from the Inaugural Contest can be viewed here:
Final results for Inaugural 2003 Coin % Price Increase Contest
The purpose of the contest is to pick the coin that will have the greatest PERCENTAGE price increase between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2004. The rules for the 2004 contest will be the same as last year. Rules for eligible coins are as follows:
1. Appear in the CDN Bluesheet or the CDN Weekly or Monthly Greysheet. I will use the values in the last 2003 weekly edition of the Bluesheet and weekly Greysheet, along with the December 2003 monthly greysheet as the starting values. If you submit a coin that appears in the Monthly supplement to the bluesheet I will use the Dec. 2003 edition as the starting value. If you are unsure if your selection appears in the eligible price sheets, please PM me and I will tell you. I will use the 'bid' values for all coins. If you submit a coin that appears in both the greysheet and bluesheet, the greysheet number will be used unless you specifically state at the time of submission that you want the bluesheet figures to be used.
2. Value of the coin (as determined above) must be between $100 and $2,500 on the beginning date of the competition, Jan. 1, 2004. I know this is arbitrary but it is intended to keep out the super low end and super high end coins. I'd like the focus to be on coins available to most budgets but with good liquidity.
3. End of the measuring period will be the last weekely bluesheet/greysheet of 2004 or the Dec. 2004 Monthly greysheet/bluesheet which contains the coin you submitted.
4. Entry submission cutoff date is midnight Dec. 31, 2003.
5. After entry cutoff, I will post a seperate thread listing all of the coins (and forum ID of submitter) which meet the above referenced criteria. Purpose of the supplemental thread will be so forum members can have a single post as a handy reference to print out all eligible submissions to follow during the year.
6. First come, first served. Last year we had 2 board members who submitted the identical coin. In case 2 members nominate the same coin, the first member to post his selection to this thread, is entitled to the choice.
7. WINNER WILL RECEIVE:
a.) much acclaim, glory and noteriety from his/her fellow forum members,
b.) bragging rights as coin investment guru of 2004,
c.) bottle of champagne ($100 or less please) along with personal congratulations from yours truly
d.) any other prizes donated by charitable fellow contestents or interested board members! Please PM me if you have a prize contribution to donate to the winner.

Should rise by 20 to 25% in the given time frame.
Make it the next two years and I'm sure it will be some sort of gold coin.
