Mint seeks artistic infusion.

The sixth paragraph starts:
"Whether the selected artists will have their initials appear on coins or medals they design, but that later are modeled by Mint engravers, ..."

It should read:
Whether the selected artists will have their original designs totally changed on coins or medals they design, but are later modeled and credit taken by Mint engravers, ...

Makes one wonder how the great painters like Picaso, etc., would have felt having their work do by others and then signing off as if they did it.

I agree. credit should be given where credit is due.

They're just saying what you said it SHOULD say the politically correct way.

The mint also says, ON THEIR WEBSITE, and I quote, Artists selected to participate in the program will be paid honoraria for their work, and those whose designs are used for certain coins and medals will be named as the designer in historical documents, including certificates of authenticity and promotional materials.

So...their name will end up somewhere but not their initials on the coin/medal. Why should the engraver get credit? He/she is copying the original, right?

I bet Morgan would have been happy to have someone elses initials on his dollars.....

I just returned from doing a little shopping. Perhaps it was stress related.

On the other hand, if you come up with a really nice design and then the mint engravers turn it into a piece of garbage, do you want your initials on it? That was one of the reasons for the MO designers sticker campaign. To show what HIS design really looked like. Not the quarter that actually appeared.
