I'm still playing with my camera, and sharing some of the pics while I do it. There are a few carbon spots, but they do not detract from the beauty of the coin.

If you had an 1853 Half Cent, I might swap you the 55 1/2 cent so I could match it with my type large cent:
As you know I'm no fan of toning spots,but I believe your right about it not detracting.The eye appeal on the rest of that coin far out weighs the spots.Nice coin!!!

Only time I ever see stuff like that is on the bourse floor at FUN, or similar shows.
The first hour is like,
"Ohmygosh- did you see THAT?...AND THAT?...and THAT? WOW!"
The last hour, when your feet are really talkin' to you and your vision is blurry, is like,
"Oh, ho hum. Another full red Mint State half cent. Lah di dah."
