Worst state quarter design so far

My vote, Alabama. Helen looks like SBA in a rocking chair. A close second is Ohio. The astronaut in the state outline always looked to me like one of those toy deep sea divers in a fish tank.

The astronaut on the OH quarter certainly does look weird, and that makes it one of my least favorite- I don't care for IN's race car, either, but I guess I don't blame them for using it. Probably my number one least favorite is the NH quarter. I'm sure the "Old Man of the Mountain" is (or was, oops!) a cool landmark, but it did not lend itself well to a coin design. I can picture folks finding heavily-worn NH quarters in the distant future, looking at the reverse, and saying "Whatinhell is that ?" It's hard enough to tell without any wear on the coin.

I agree with the NH observation. It's 3rd on my worst list. I have a sponge that I wash my car with that looks exactly like the reverse of the quarter.

I think the worst one out now is the Missouri with the three drunk red necks trying to row the boat with the anchor still out.

And unfortunately for me, I am NOT liking Illinois' design.

Oh well, I do rather like Vermont, Delaware and Kentucky - Connecticut ain't bad, either (interesting to compare and contrast with the '35 Conn. Half.)

Any quarter with the state outline. I think the Florida, Texas and California coins will spark a lot of renewed interest and set's from today will go up significantly in value.

Whats up with Indiana? I hate the design chosen. Why would anyone put a racecar on a quarter? There is no historical significance to that at all.

I think the PA quarter is the worst. The Connecticut quarter absolutely sparkles in mint state. The reflections off the mountains on the VT quarter can be breathtaking. PA has a plain state outline. The center of the design is blank. Nothing much else is going on either. Even the busy, incoherent SC design is better.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.

PA is pretty drab, too, IMHO. Not awful, but definitely not great.

Gotta pick just 1? THAT is tough!
Pa (my home state) IS pretty bad. I always think that the staff she is holding has the Nazi symbol at the top...thats what it unfortunately reminds me of.
    Connecticut's tree....yeah.....
Massachusettes is decent. The Minuteman is a good idea. Coulda been done better...but pretty good.
New Hampshires "Old Man of the Mountain"....up there with a tree (that isnt even there anymore)

Some good some bad....cant pick just one.

There are actually darn few that I really like. However, I do seem to like more of them in DCAM than in UNC. For some reason, mirrors and frost really help out many of those poor-a$$ designs.

I have to go with NH as being the worst so far, but unfortunately my home State Missouri is pretty darn bad. And it bugs me that they have the Arch crossing the river. It doesn't.

I have never liked New Hampshire or Alabama. I would say that the state that "got ripped off" would be Missouri.

Wow, I don't know if I can pick just one...maybe Tenn.

Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and several others.

But have you noticed that some of these designs look better on the clad layer missing mint errors?

Sorry Atarian, But I have never been able to get into racing, and i thought that the point of the state quarters was to celebrate history, not advertise Nascar. But, being from Wisconsin, I think the Wisconsin choice is even worse: Cheese, Cows.

TheCoinGod- well obviously you are not a racing fan because the Indianapolis 500 races Indy cars from the old CART leage and now the IRL. NASCAR is a totally different league. Beside David Letterman I personally don't know what else would symbolize Indiana.

I live in Alabama (I'm from Chicago, IL), and I agree with several other people that we have the worst state quarter. The design was a last-minute attempt to come up with something, and the ceremony to kick it off was hastily arranged (a friend of mine who attended told me about it).

Sell your sponge on eBay along with an NH quarter. They're worth more as a matched set.

I haven't even seen the Alabama quarter yet, but I thought Indiana was pretty bad.

NH, LA, TN, and IL are all awful. Worst is probably LA and TN, which are the same quarter. But Wisconsin will probably out "bad" them with that goofy cow facing "forward".

Why is it always "What the hell is that?" when it comes to state quarters?

My vote is for PA as the worst.

Funny, I kind of like the IN reverse which definitely puts me in the minority here.
