It is a Collector's Universe slab (parent company of PCGS). They do not grade coins, only PCGS does.

It is technically the same as a PCGS shell, but the label and hologram is for CU. It is a CU slab.

Could you guys tell it was a Collector's Universe slab by the fact that it says Collector's Universe on it? image

The slab does say PCGS as well, though, so this could be understandably confusing.

I think this is the first CU slab I've seen that didn't have the CU lgo on the back label. An why in the world did CU slab that???? Usually they only do novelty type items like the WTC death coins, or the CU membership coins. Why would they slab and pedigree a Joe Roe california fractional? I could see PCGS doing it but CU? Maybe this is PCGS's answer to the pedigree headache? "From now on if you want a coin pedigreed OK, but it will be in a CU slab not a PCGS slab." image
