How soon do the results of the Floor bidding auction become known?

Almost all of the sessions are posted on the Heritage Auction Archives under the NOV Signature sale. Some of the last session is not yet posted.

I was the ONLY floor bidder in the room when the bidding ended at 11:30am! It was pretty funny. Even the ladies who work for Heritage were laughing.

Michael, please clarify your remark - were they laughing at what you were bidding on, or, your appearance?imageimage

Michael, I was watching the bidding live on e-bay, to check the lots I was interested in. If you were the only one left in the room bidding, we were going head to head on a few lots. I got one lot this morning, a 1939 - P - Oregon in PCGS 66 to complete my Oregon set.

Ha, ha Mark -- I wasn't bidding I was watching. And as for my appearance I was presentable, as always.

MFH -- I meant to say I was the only floor spectator, not actual bidder.

Heck, last night there were only 17 floor bidders!

At least the dinner was pretty decent.

I loved watching Bob Merrill in action. I thought he had retired. In fact, I was thrilled to see him joking with the audience. I even bid $6 more than I wanted just to be able to say I won something from him. I even joked with him about it afterwards.

Makes one wonder if and when they'll go all absentee bids and forget about floor bidding. Must be quite an expense setting it all up in NYC.

He really is great. I thought I was bidding on livestock! He really is entertaining!

Bob is a great guy and a pleasure to work with. I worked with him in the auction department at Heritage, long ago and feel that I owe a debt of gratitude to him for the work ethic and values he helped instill in me.

A bit more than two decades agoimage a number of us (then at Heritage) studied very briefly, applied for, tested for and got our auctioneers' licenses.

I used to call sales for Heritage back then and it was a blast, especially, the interactions I had with many of the bidders.

Bob is the only auctioneer I know that says goodnight and to make some comment to each bidder that leave early whether it is to say "good luck on your peanut farm, etc." I always try to leave when he is NOT calling the bids. I would be afraid to find out what kind of farm he thinks I own.

He also says "thank you" a lot to the floor bidders when they bid, a trait I no longer see in auctioneers.

To the other collectors who have never seen him in action, it is worth the price of admission (free) to sit for an hour or so, enjoy a soft drink or even a meal if you really stick around!

He is indeed a class act.
