Excellent fields on this one, free of bagmarks on the obverse, with just one reed mark above the arrows on the reverse. The ticks in the focal areas are minor and not nearly as visible as they appear in a big image. Strike is good, and the eye appeal is outstanding. I'm thinking MS66. Your thoughts?

MS-66 before reading your description. I think it's a 66 "all day long."

I am right now looking at a 1964 half very similar in appearance to yours, graded MS66 by PCGS.

    Baley,

Technical grade, I'd actually even be a little lower than 65.5. But, it has that "look". So many of these '64's come out of the rolls or mint sets as butt ugly, boring washed out paper like things. It's actually a little hard to find them that hit you over the head, and when you do they're usually bagmarked to death.

Is that a ding on the bustline? If so, MS65.

MS67. Super clean fields and cheek, no marks on the top of the shield.

I didn't see the marks above the arrows until I looked at the bigger picture. Probably MS66. But a very nice one.
    Still shot 67.

    Mark,

I'd crap a brick if it went 67, but thanks for raising my blood pressure. image

No worries, my estimate was just a composite, actually I give it 65.0 for marks, but 66.5 for luster and "look", 66 for strike because I like the tail feathers, and think this coin averages out to a weak but makeable 66 overall, rounding up, especially if it has the eye appeal in hand.

Know what you mean about typical coins from rolls, this one is definitely above average for "flash"

65 for hits, but it will probably be a lock 66 shot 67 with that eye appeal
